Two houses I revamped - requesting feedback!

Hey, all!

I just finished decorating two houses – the Gardner house and the Flaming Nix room – and would appreciate any comments and feedback.

First is my revamp of the Gardner house, which is befitting for any murderous smuggler or assassin. I wanted to change the layout, making the interiors feel much more distinctive and personal. This meant building an artificial wall that closes off the upstairs and conceals the cellar's access point.

Gardner house

Entrance:
I used stacked bookshelves to create the artificial wall, reshaping the ground floor layout. The cellar entrance is hidden and the upstairs staircase is inaccessible behind them.

Opposite view of entrance:
This is taken from the small study space that neighbours the kitchen area.

Kitchen:
This is a close-up of the kitchen area. My character's cat, Molag Furbal, perches on a pile of cushions by the door.

Bedroom area:
You can see that in the bottom right corner there's a drape concealing a hidden pathway. I kept the area darker and used a large bed to make this less obvious. I also wanted to use these shelves because they're pleasantly decorative and a cosy warm red colour.

Hidden pathway:
This wallspace leads around to the concealed cellar access. Stones were used to create the look of a wallspace.

Cellar:
The cellar has been repurposed as a smuggler's stash, kill room and torture chamber. I used crates and stone blocks to resize the cellar and make it feel more claustrophobic. The three propped-up corpses are rival smugglers with warning letters stuck to their side, pending delivery.

Cellar part 2:
A torture rack, mirror and housekeeper/smuggler all feature here.

Garden:
This is accessible from the door in the hidden pathway. I didn't do a lot with this, beyond creating a fence and hedge to wall off a large part of the garden. This way, it looks like the garden belongs to the NPC house next to this one – and the upper floor then appears to be a separate residency that's accessed via this neighbouring garden.

The merchant cart and well are handy for smuggling.

And next is my Dunmer character's primary residence, the Flaming Nix room. For this, I really wanted to keep to a single style of furniture, so 90% of the items are Dunmer designs. As my character is also a vampire, I used drapes to cover the windows and keep the sunlight out. I carpeted the floors to make it feel extra cosy (and distinctive from the default room).

Thanks for looking! As I said, comments are appreciated!

Looks good. I can totally feel the smuggler/assassin vibe of the first house.

Just one question though, what is the purpose of the mirror in the torture room? Extra psychological torture? :D

    Haha, yes!

I think I lifted the idea from a movie or something, but I figured witnessing your own torture must be pretty impacting.

Hey these pics are very dark, anyway you can make a video or take pics during the day so we can see it better?

First off, really well done! Love the details, and thank you for walking us through everything.

One question, what is the triptych furnishing? (it's on the right side of your first picture "Entrance")
At first I thought you just scooched a regular painting in to some windows so that it appeared to be three paintings, but closer look seems like they're three separate things?
    What is the furnishing?

    Hey, thanks for the feedback!

I think there are three triptych items available: "Velothi Panels, Gesyer", "Velothi Panels, Volcano" and "Velothi Panels, Waterfall". All are at the bottom of the Purchase list under Gallery > Paintings. I think I'm using the Geyser version.

Oh my goodness, this looks fantastic, I love it! Especially the Flaming Nix - people so rarely post decorations of the smaller houses/apartments, so it's really cool to see!

    Very nice!
Gardner is great for hiding the basement, since Ravenhurst has the same layout but without the basement.
I hid mine with vendors and carpets.

False walls are easily done with Orcish Tables and Island Tables.
I did the same with mine too, to split the basement space up into two areas.

Kudos on the Flaming Nix Garrett! It's my favorite of the three apartments and is so convenient for getting to a great crafting/shopping hub and master writ vendor.

You've given me some great ideas to make the space more cozy. It's a hard space to make bright, since there are only 2 windows, it has a high ceiling, and the brick is dark. But, you went with that natural darkness and it works great.

I'm one who really doesn't like to mix cultural décor, so I like that it is mostly Dunmer furnishings. Thanks for sharing!
