Crafting Event Master Writ Vouchers

As far as I understood the event description we should get double number of writ vouchers for all writs accomplished.

I've just handed in a master writ for tayloring but got just the simple single number of writ vouchers from Rols (uneven number, so no hidden doubleing of number in writ description). A guild mate tested it with the same result.

This is sad because I do not have that much gold enhancement mats to do so many master writs.

They already stated ... somewhere ... that it only applies to new writs that drop during the event.

ZOS_Kevin posted in another thread about it. EDIT: Here.

It was a dev comment in one of the many threads on the topic. I just couldn't remember which one, but it's been linked by another poster.

Ok thanks! I recommend to highlight such things on the event announcements on the launcher and or ingame as not all are regularly reading some hidden dev messages.

Apparently something happened to delay the official announcement/accompanying article.

Yep, exactly. I just spent 150k at various traders, which is quite a bit in PS money, on master writs bc of this. I'm very upset rn :(

I only just found out through a guildie. Pretty annoying given I don't have that many mats atm and the price of the gold ones is shocking.

I have just got a Gold Master Writ. Crafted the item and turned the quest. No double vouchers received. @ZOS_Kevin it's bugged or the double voucher is applied at the moment to generate the number of vouchers the writ will have? I have wasted lots of jewelry mats for just 269 vouchers (should have been 538 on quest completion).

It already applied to the voucher when it was generated.

So the master writs are dropping with double writ vouchers during the event. You will not get double vouchers again when you turn them in, that would make it quadruple vouchers.

People have been reporting odd numbers on the voucher reward totals though, which I find…worrying.

It is quite likely that the writs can be generated with something like 7.5 writ vouchers as reward, which normally gets either rounded or truncated to 7 or 8. But, if they get multiplied by 2 like on this event, that will be 15 vouchers.

I made the same mistake. I read about the crafter's celebration a few hours ago, and enthousiastically started doing master writs. I even decided to buy materials like dawn-prisms and slaughter stones for this reason, even though I was saving up for the last two missing parts of Militant Ordinator and some expensive style pages.

After turning in about 6 writs, including a few golden ones, I saw I wasn't getting double vouchers at all.

Looking at the festival description again, I noticed:
"+100% Writ Vouchers earned from Master Writs created during the event"

When I read that the first time, I assumed it meant the crafting items had to be created during the event. Apparently, it means the writs themselves.

That really could have been put more clearly.

I'm a bit disapointed now, especially since I spend time on the master writs instead of doing normal crafting writs on multiple characters. So this exercise not only cost me AP and gold, but also the change of earning the double voucher writs in the first place. But at least now it's clear for me what to do tomorrow.

as I have started this thread I should say here:
When I started it I was not aware about the fact that this doubling does not apply to master writs that dropped prior to the event. The number I mentioned was for a master writ that did drop before. Meanwhile I got a master writ drop and it has double voucher number (>100 for a purple is strongly indicative of a doubled writ voucher number I'd say).
So as far as I am concerned it works as described here in this thread. That leaves the fact that their ingame description of this event is fully misleading and prone to generate miscontent for which they only have to blame themselves :)

I am not so tech savvy but surely when they set the parameters for the rng, they can ensure that it will only return integers? As such there should neither be decimals nor the need to round them up or down? Or maybe I am missing something obvious with the nature of random number generation.

Any how's I think ZOS tried to do a nice thing (and it still is a nice thing) with a wee surprise event for all the crafters out there. It's just a shame it has gone a wee bit pear shaped with the transmute situation and wording around the awarding of double writ vouchers.

I'd say writ has a random range of values it can give, i.e. this trait+style+quality can award say 6 or 7, and this logic gets applied twice, first you roll 6, then 7 and final value is sum of the two.

Double resource yield work in similar way, you don't get straight x2 resources, you pick same node twice and get two individual rolls on what contents were.

The same writ is always worth the same amount.

It's a rounding (or truncating), because there's a formula that determines the amount of vouchers based on that trait/style/item

The 2x is applied before rounding, so this can lead to the 2x value being off by up to 1 from the rounded base value doubled.
