Why was a perm banned for a one time offensive of something I said in chat.

Long story short I was in zone chat talking with someone. We were both a bit bored and were chatting about weird stuff just to be funny. I said somethings also, not really thinking as I had a migraine. A few hours later I got a ban for:
"We regret to inform you this account has been permanently deactivated as a result of violating the Code of Conduct. We cannot allow Child Sexual Exploitation, Incest, Extreme Inappropriate Chat , as it is in direct violation of the following sections of our Code of Conduct:"

Are you serious? I admit my comment was stupid. But being silly about and saying something like "MI slept with my mom and baby siter who are biracial, obese, limbless, midgets with bad acne and underbites.", that seems a bit extreme for a one perm ban. Not even a warning? I have over 3,500 hours in this game, have spent a ton of money and NEVER once gotten in trouble. Yet some chat gets me a perm ban. Seems extreme in nature.

Again, not saying I didn't do anything wrong of course. But a perm ban. Absurd. I appealed and of course it was denied. Totaly annoyed and will never come back to ESO if my account stays banned. Again, I've never had one account issue in 3,500 hours. Can't left me off with a warning? Or even a temp ban for like a week or two?

Appeal again. Apologize. Say it was a mistake. Say it'll never happen again. Hope they change their mind. If they do, never do it again.

Never forget that /zone chat is a public environment, so anything you type can be seen and read by everyone else in the zone, and there's no guarantee that someone might be deeply offended or angered by something you said regardless of whether it was intended as an "obvious" joke or whatever.

Afaik the forum staff can't really do much of anything regarding a ban - as suggested the best bet might be to appeal again and be really apologetic.

(From the Code of Conduct: "Please Note: Within our community forums, we do not allow the public discussion of any moderation actions. Questions regarding any account or moderation action should be directed through the appeals process.").

    I wish you luck.

You said that in zone chat. Zone chat! If you screamed that out loud at the mall for a thousand people to hear, would you be surprised when mall security told you to leave and not come back?

Some things cross the line so far that they deserve a strong punishment. That statement was one of those.

I have to admit there are two things i don't understand. The first thing is your quoted statement. it makes no sense to me at all. The second thing i dont understand is why you would quote a statement in the forums that got you banned from the game. If it got you banned from the game for saying it, surely you'll get banned from the forums next?

Ah yes, this was obviously one of the worst things one could say.

It didn't have to be the worst; it just had to cross a certain line.

    Yikes. That statement.

I'm not sure what you were thinking when you typed that, I mean both content wise and regarding possible consequenses.

Just gotta say it... coming on here to argue with other forum users in defense of your statement is probably not a step down the path toward a successful appeal.

I see players posting comments in zone chat far more inappropriate than what you say you posted. And I see the same players doing it regularly for years with no action taken against them. Someone on a passive aggressive power trip trying to push their "morality" on you must have reported you rather than simply hitting the ignore button and resolving the issue themselves. That's what the ignore function is for.

So good luck to you with the appeal of your ban.

Considering that what you chose to post here is probably a forum-friendly version of whatever you actually posted in zone chat, yes, the consequence seems quite appropriate.

I'm glad there are players that stand up for morality and not just turn their heads and look the other way. There is nothing passive aggressive about reporting a comment that not only insulted 6 different types of people but also described immoral and illegal actions against a baby.

If someone did report this they did the right thing. That's what the report function is for.

Hopefully you will learn from the lesson and not do anything similar again. You can always make a new account and start again?

Or as others have said, you can appeal and maybe they will just ban you for a period of time, but I have to say it, sometimes you just have to accept the consequences of your actions.

I don't think this has arisen out of someone pushing their "morality" on anyone. What was said was obviously in breach of TEOS terms and conditions otherwise they wouldn't have banned the player. Ergo, if it was reported, then it is TESO's morality that is being pushed.

If other people get away with bad behaviour it doesn't mean it's ok for another to do the same.
