Celestial Crates and costs in general..

This isn't a bug. It's just feedback.. or maybe a rant.

When the space goat mount came out two years ago... I missed being able to purchase it by less than 200 endeavor points. I didn't spend any endeavor points waiting for it to come back last Christmas.. but it didn't.

So last June when the polychrome wolf came out I was like... I guess I'm never going to see the goat again.. so I will spend the money on the wolf.

Of course.. now the goat is back. But there is no way for me to purchase it. You can only earn about 11K endeavor points in a year. I spent mine last summer... so it will be another year before I can afford a 16K mount.

So my only option to get the goat is to go through the crown crates. Now.. I already had 500 gems. But 1600 is a long way to go. I wasn't even going to try. But my husband talked me into it by reminding me that I already had everything in the crates because I had spent so much money trying to get the goat two years ago. Sure enough... I grab up some crates... I have everything. It automatically converts to gems.. and the spare utility stuff I sell back. I spent another $70 (my christmas money from the kids) on crowns for three big sets of crates... I only managed to get another 300 gems and one of the lesser Bear mounts. (The bear is very cool.. I would have been thrilled to get him two years ago)

But I only have half the gems I need... and at the rate I'm going it could take another $200USD in crowns to get enough crates to get enough gems to get the stupid mount that I've been obsessed with for to freaking years. So.. with the $300 I've already spent... that make him a $500 investment.

I'm not going to do it. I don't have that kind of money to spend. I'm disappointed in myself that I've spent so much on it already. Between two years ago and now I've spent almost $300 in cash and logged in EVERY SINGLE DAY to do my endeavors... (I even asked my husband to do it when I was in surgery last fall)... but the end result is... I'm not going to be able to get the mount this time either.

How many more years until we see it again?

I'm a boomer. I might not live that long.

It just seems so difficult... but why does it have to be? I would understand if you could only get the mount if it was a special mount that your guild had to come in first in trials or something to be eligible for.. you know.. Elite. But it's just a crown crate. Anyone can have it... they just have to be a lot more lucky than I am.

crown crates tend to return every two years.
but November and December have had more than 1 crate so it's possible future months will also have multiple crates.

so Celestial crates and the Celestial Ram could return in a little more than a year if we do get multiple crates in future months.

it is frustrating how many crown gems radiant apex mounts cost.
it would be awesome if we could purchase radiant apex mounts with crowns instead of gems.

I'm grateful for your post, I was hyping myself up today to buy crowns just to save them incase anything I want comes around. I realize, anything I want is behind a crate, which I'm highly against.

Again, no crowns for me. This system needs to go away.

Message eso support, send them a ticket asking for a refund for the wolf you bought and explain the situation.

Hopefully they help you.

might take a few days or maybe a week though. to get a refund its taken up to the developers and they are currently on vacation right now. support in general doesn't do to much.

I've never tried... is it possible to gift Gem and Seal purchases?

I would definitely not jump in the Crown Crate treadmill to generate Gems.

I would go the support route and plead for them to exchange the wolf for the goat.

I don't think they care, or rather the system is designed to extract as much money out of your wallet as possible meaning its working as intended....its just not a good intent on their behalf.

I personally miss the days of getting mount and cool drops from bosses or through in game activities vs gambling for them. Not only was it more fun and more rewarding getting the cool drop, but it did not make me question the ethics of the game company making the game. Making profit is one thing, abusing the customer is another.

I love this game, but I hate their monetization practices and its their monetization practices that often have my wife and I leaving the game for months on end. We do not feel like valued customers, and this makes it hard to want to spend money with these folks.

By contrast my tailor works his bottom off to ensure I look and feel my best, is always upfront with costs and generally under promises and over delivers. I have never second guessed spending money with them, but with this game I second guess myself constantly and its not a good feeling.

your best option is to use the endeavor system to get the rewards you want. yes you will never get everything that way and it will take very long years to obtain it. but at least its pretty much free and it keeps you playing the game.
