How to get the best out of Gates of Oblivion?

I was all set for some boss farming for purple crates, but now I think running Black Drake, Cellar, Red Petal and Cauldron for sticker books would be better. I'd get purple crates from each run anywhos. With double drops, I'd need 13'ish runs from each fill my stickerbook. Both Cellar and Black Drake are really fast runs too on normal mode.

What are you doing for the Gates of Oblivion event?

I was doing portals for the achievements for all the generals and number of portals, but once I have those (got the last general last night so just the other portals to go) then I am going to farm ingredients overland which is what I have been doing while looking for portals. I get more boxes way and from treasure chests. Plus the dailies in both Blackwood and the Deadlands. May do one dungeon each day but only for the second gold box.

I have been doing world boss and delve dailies in Blackwood and Fargrave and it’s been a waste of time. Furniture plan drops are rare and junk. Motif drops are equally few and far between. Easily the worst event since launch.

I like the idea of the 2nd glorious box drop from the dungeons but there is nothing in them.

It feels like they just slapped together the event using the existing loot tables for the zones and called it a day.

If you really want to feel discouraged open the event description of what “can” be in the glorious and mundane boxes and compare that description to what is actually in the boxes that drop for you.

Gotta remember, this is a re-run of the event from 2021. Back then the event was big because we had goals to work towards and Blackwood/The Deadlands was the hot new zone. Now it's kind of just a farm and collect loot event.

I do the boss and delve daily, portal if I happen to stumble on it and pick up nodes, chests &cet. I pass by. With one character.

Couldn't play yesterday and can't today. 😡
But, tomorrow, until the end of the event, I'll farm motifs, plans and ressources as much as I can.
I still dont have the public dungeon rewards. The gown and the gate, I think it is?

I dont think it is a bad event. It's just not that lucrative compared to others.

And players are a little burned out from events.
Three of my toons still had the skeleton polymorph from the witch cauldron active, because the event is like two weeks back and I have only been crafting dailies with them.

And the next one lurks around the corner! New life starts mid december, I believe?

Yes, it is a gown and a gate. I don't have them either and was debating farming for those but when I am setting at single digits for each and they need 50 I can only grind for those so much at a time before I am bored.

Dailies, farming resource nodes, and Oblivion portals. I already have all overland set gear from Blackwood, from the previous time they ran this event, but still need to collect everything from the Deadlands. Haven't run the dungeons yet, as I can't solo either one, but might queue for them or try recruiting guildies. Have been getting lots of blueprints and whatnots, so it's been great so far.

Oh, and I've encountered the adoring fan or whoever he is, on characters who have already done that, so maybe they fixed the issue that was caused by account-wide achievements?

Yes. Was fixed quite a while back IIRC.

I just do a delve for tickets on my mains - 3 accounts each PC megaserver. All I have energy for.... at least this week, since I still have 1 character who needs the antiquities weekly endeavor. Supposed to snow tomorrow, hope that doesn't screw my connection....

I rarely farm events but get the tickets and then work for extra boxes if I want to do the content for other reasons anyway or the rewards are particularly good. So far, I’m doing a WB daily and a dungeon, and then some additional stuff in Blackwood as I feel like, but the Endless Archive keeps calling me back!

I’ve no complaints — I like the new style and I got two pages from coffers already. Also, I like to use events such as this to fill out the dungeon stickerbook as it can otherwise go slowly with only one curated weapon for drop.

So maximization I think really depends on your personal goals and what you enjoy.

I fill sticker book for 4 event dungeons and that's fun, because there are double drops, guaranted coffer from final boss and many quick runs with good players.
