Any reason to hold on to Master Writs or Surveys?

I have several hundred Master Writs and Surveys that I've kept on characters and in my bank and I'm working on clearing out as much as I can before the next U40. Is there any good reason to wait and hold on to any of these Master Writs or Surveys or do you just complete them when you have them? I know a couple leads have been tied to them in the past but I don't guess there's any new Mythics coming soon that would be.

If u have any master writs from jewerly, wait for the next update with them. They will become a lot cheaper to do and u will get a good amount of vouchers from them.

I usually save enchanter master writs to spam them whenever we get a x2 exp event, then burn through them to level skills and morphs on alts

You could save surveys too because they're fixing the Plentiful Harvest CP, you'll get up to 10% extra after the update.

Also, if they insist on keeping the new Grand Crafting stations bind on pick up then you can possibly sell or donate Master Writs to a guild master in order to outfit a guild hall too.

That CP node has always applied to surveys.

Hmm then I have a dilemma I guess.

I was going to finish doing all my 10 char Normal Writs and finish any surveys/refining right before 30 October just to have more possible grain/Plate conversions.

I checked PTS and I'll be getting 31 Chromium Platings Live to 329 PTS and 40 Zircon Platings Live to 403 PTS as of today.

I don't sell many of them but if I finally want to upgrade some Jewelry I wonder whether holding off to get direct refine to Ancient will be more effective OR get the largest conversion up front.

that's just the RNG of refining being different between the two.

surveys: it is faster to do them in 10+ bunches running away 50..100m to make nodes respawn (the exclusion are most of Northern Elsweyr surveys with insane reset distance and several Wrothgar ones). Also if you are not subscribed - it is reasonable to hoard surveys till Free ESO+ trails: to dig resources and refine them during CraftBag unlocked.

master writs: it makes sense to hoard them till 2x XP events.

The way things appear at the moment, the only thing changed is platings dropping instead of grains. The loot table for daily writs hasn't even been adjusted so it's still a gaurenteed drop of a (now) plating with a chance for 2 or 10 still. Given that, I very much doubt they've changed the drop rates from refining at all so it shouldn't make any difference when you refine if you aren't having a bad rng day :)

Copper is less because I had to modify RefinementTracker to track the platings instead of the grains, took a little trial and error.

No evidence of any change, but I'll take that RNG I got if Zircon/Chromium are slightly higher and the other two are slightly lower :joy:

Plentiful Harvest: Fixed an issue where the first stage of this node did not properly grant a 10% chance to harvest double resources.

that only applies to the first stage of Plentiful harvest. and was a big fix since the first stage wasn't working. the remaining stages are not being changed, so stage 2+ will yield the same results as in live. Since the best thing to do is to hold onto your surveys until you can max this out first, it really shouldn't impact mat collection.

From how I read it, the bug is if you have only unlocked the first 10%. Once you unlock 20% and higher, it works correctly.

I've 100% been getting less than 50% doubled nodes, from Surveys at least. I've tracked it and it came out at exactly 40% over about 6000 nodes with everything maxed.

My take is they seem to work in tandem, with each stage adding 10%, rather than new stages overwriting the last and fixing a new percentage. So every stage is 10% down because the 1st is still included with the calculations.

If anyone is interested, my figures are here:

    1021 Surveys = 6126 Total Nodes
    2424 Doubled Nodes

Which if my excel formula is right is 40%
    :D

There's also been several threads about it, I don't think this is the most recent (and definitely not the first) but it shows the working out:

it depends on how they actually coded the node to work

if each stage is counted separately, it would explain why all of the stages had -10% chance compared to what they should have

so if they fix the first stage, then the 5th stage should be actually 50% instead of a proven track record of 40%

In somebody's limited sample size, posted in a thread I made about plentiful harvest not working at 10% or 50%, they tested at 20%, and got doubled rates around 20% on live.

This would seem to counter the "theories" that are being presented that all stages will increase at 10% because they were all artificially suppressed by 10%, since the 20% bracket was behaving as intended on live.

Edit: If I find time... I'll actually test, I have plenty of surveys saved that should be on my PTS character... so we can have actual data instead of hopes and hearsay. But full-time job and other obligations means I have limited time.

I haven't tested it myself, but saw some posts from the PTS about the conversion and master writs. The old master writs will require the "ancient plating", which you will not have any more of since it auto converts to the new platings. This does sound like a bug, so it may not stay that way for long.

I just tested on the PTS, I successfully completed a blue jewelry master writ. Got 28 vouchers for it.

Writworthy add-on says it needs the ancient plating, but that's an add-on issue. Just made it by hand. LibLazyCrafting and Writworthy just need to be updated.

In-game though, it's working perfectly fine.

I tested the plentiful harvest passive on the PTS.

100 surveys, 600 nodes. 49.5% doubling rate. Statistically significant. Bug appears to be fixed on drop rates. More details in link.

I do writs on 20 toons a day, and that ends up being a lot of surveys (15+ usually), and I do them every day to keep them manageable. It saves me inventory space to just do them, and besides, I'll always get more.

My point in this is that while you might get a bit more mats than what you would now, it's still a long ways away, and what you get now adds up with the new stuff over time. Entirely up to you what you decide, but it boils down to; do you want the mats now, or do you want them later?

Aside from that, hang onto the jewelry writs till update 40, and you'll be using 10x less items to craft the same writs and gain the same vouchers

I am on console and I have been doing the surveys because I don’t have the inventory space to keep many. In the long run it will only give you a few more if you save them, I would not worry about it unless you have stacks and stacks of them.

The 1 to 10 conversion doesn't matter for this.

Before you get a grain at the set percentage. After you'll get a plating at the same set percentage.

The plentiful harvest bug and waiting means you'll get 10% higher procs of double pulls from the node, which equals more raw materials, which when refined means more upgrade materials.
