It's time to talk about that esoteric greaves lead. Or talk about it again, IDK. Anyway, it's worthy of a heartfelt whinge.
I don't mind a grindy lead. I didn't even mind the Shadowfen alchemy nodes saga, there was a weird kind of cameraderie with everyone stood there all day jealously nursing their node waiting for the respawns. Zone chat was full of jealous murmurs when someone got lucky and good-natured attempts at collaboration with players letting each other check opened nodes (I never did work out if that worked or not). Anyway. It was fine. Same with other grindy leads. They can be frustrating, but mostly they're fine.
Even the lead that drops from Graven Deep secret bosses was ok, because the first one is easy to solo. It took me about 20 runs, but it was just a grind.
But the esoteric greaves lead that drops from Coral Aerie is not fine. I don't mind it dropping from a DLC dungeon, I don't mind it dropping from a secret boss. But to have it drop *only* from a secret boss that only appears after the activity is complete, and with a terrible drop rate, sucks. I guess you did it to get us all to go back and re-play the secrets that we played through once, but actually it doesn't give me that warm glow of rediscovering content, it just makes me feel awkward every time because farming it essentially involves begging pugs to stay around after they've done what is probably a longer-than-they-hoped daily random to clear a boss they don't care about. It's even worse because nobody even wants the greaves to use them, because it's such a sub-optimal mythic for pretty much everything. All anyone wants it for is the Savior of the Telvanni Peninsula achievement and the mount.
Make it drop from the shield guardian before the final boss - fine. Give it a chance to drop from any of the secret bosses - fine. Even leave it dropping from Z'Baza but give it something like a 50% drop rate, so you get to rediscover the old sload but don't have the endless chore of pleading with randoms. It's not as if it's practicable to farm with a bunch of friends who all want it, because as soon as someone gets the lead they'll drop out. Perhaps alternatively you could make it so that either it doesn't drop for anyone in the dungeon group or it drops for everyone?
Anyway, it's probably too late for this one. You're not very quick to address problems with old content. I'll just keep grinding, and hating the dungeon a little more every run, and end up never, ever going back to it again once I get the drop. But please bear the request in mind when thinking of other lead sources in future.
