Why kill 40 to kill 150? Why such extreme change?

ProudMary

Why was the kill 40 quest increased to kill 150? If the number of kills was deemed to be too low and too easy, why not double the number rather than quadruple it? Why such an extreme change? 150 kills is just shy of quadrupling the previous kills needed to finish this quest.

And why was this change implemented before we knew the mechanic for this achievement was fixed for getting the achievement while in group?

i dont really care if 40/80/150 cause im having fun in pvp, but does an increase on the quest targets mean an increase in reward?( i mean it, it seems logic in my head) .

but also interrested in why this change?
    -more players loggued?
    -giving candy to balpvpg?
-some quind of new wind comming to cyrodil?(i dont think so but hey)

Because they want you to buy crown crates.

The Conquest Board “Kill Players” quest is now group shared. To counterbalance the rapid progress of this quest during certain PvP engagements, the number of kills required has been increased from 40 to 150.

Seems a bit radical, despite the grouping caveat. Good luck to solo players; I guess the new favoured and flavoured attack mode is 'meatbag'?

Incidentally, what is the current player cap limit per campaign?

there was a lot of comments about this change on the PTS forums.

The change was implemented to make it less of an instant finish during big fights. with this change they supposedly fixed kills not counting if you were grouped. and I agree, in big, prime time fights, 150 kills that, as long as you did anything to the enemy player you get credit, isnt bad.

but this feels like a change that was implemented for Midyear Mayhem/Whitestrakes, where you could walk out any keep and bomb 40 on the spot. as a primarily off peak hours player, I rarely see enough players in the few hours i will be on to actually even get 40 (and as a mostly solo/ungrouped player, never had issues for the kill 40 counting for me at least, I dont have issue scoring kills if theres a population to actually kill). getting 150 in off peak hours now? this is a multi day affair for more casual players/people not playing prime time, I'll dump it and take 3 towns at this point lol, which is already a conquest most people skip. maybe they want to encourage more people into taking towns to RP in vlast? I dont know what the issue is with letting people have an accessible conquest mission. Much of the PTS comments were echoing these points, but it was ignored.

I agree that there is far too much emphasis in ESO on the crates and monetization, but I don't see how that applies in this instance.

But the 150 number is just too high. ZOS over corrected again on this one. In a 2 hour raid today I only got 119 kills, and we were really tearing it up. I earned 300k AP in that time. So the 150 kills will take a minimum of 2.5 hours to complete, and that's while running with a strong group. That is excessive. Any gladiator quest should be able to be completed in a 2 hour raid run.

With a number like that, this gladiator quest should be placed on a separate board from the rest.

    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

I got and completed this quest for the 1st time last night and it went surprisingly fast, about an hour. To be fair we were in a very long defense of Chalman from the entire EP server (BTW thanks for the 121k D-tick!) so I probably shouldn't say anything until I've tried to complete it on a slow night.

This quest is still doable as a daily if you play in GH during prime time. If you are in any other campaign, or during off peak times, consider this a weekly. It’s just another change from Zeni that encourages zerging instead of giving reason to spread out away from the big fights they know contribute to lag.

Really now? 150kills? it needs over 3-4 hours playgame and it depends, if you have
to do with these terrible ball groups you stay about 30min or 1-2hours to kill it,

Zos are you ok? do you play in cyro to see how bad is this? Zos must stop the ball groups
from the game, no point on them, no fun, only waste of time, we only see people run around,
and run, and run, where is the fun with ball groups in game? and now, 150 kills?

It's impossible to do this quest when appearing ball groups only, some nights are
ball groups nights, so how this quest will complete ?

I hope you fix this mistake on the next hot-fix or next maintenance. You could make it 80kills,
no 150! Its crazy and work negative for the game for many people.

i could see this quest varying heavily depending on the time of day or if there was a big battle happening

last night i was in a 1-1.5 hour back and forth between sej and alessia (most of the time on or near the bridge) and accumulated 135 kills (killing blow + assists) in that time span

but i could see if your mostly small scaling your kills are going to come in a lot slower making it much more difficult to complete within a day, let alone an hour or 2

To me its to please the ball groups which seem to be becoming what eso PVP is predominantly about.

I watched one of the new counters the other night when there was an AD ball group around and it was something like 200 odd kills, and was literally under 5 minutes

It just means they don't have to keep going back to the quest board every minute. I think that's what the purpose of this battle victories counter is for too so they can get excited about how quickly they can kill players with no counter.

Nevermind, ZOS seem intent on keeping those ball groups happy even though some of them are using lag switches and other such methods, causing players skills not to work, frame rates to drop, pc's to crash and creating an environment where theres no way to counter them....unless you form your own ball group and become the very thing you detest and just add to the problem

As a healer, I couldn't complete the kill 40 quest before unless I was ungrouped and following a zerg. Not my fav.

I can often complete this quest after 3 hours with my friends in Cyro, but as a healer its a real struggle.
As usual, ZoS made an attempt, and it fell a bit short. But credit where credit is due, I *CAN* complete it sometimes now.

I think you might have it right here. I've personally gone through phases where I only log on long enough to get in a quick Kill 40 quest completion then logged off, and changing it to Kill 150 has encouraged me to hang around longer to complete it.
