Is the damage increase applied multiplicative like the crit damage or it is additive to the other modifiers?

Additive with other damage modifiers. And for the record critical dmg modifiers are also additive with each other.

    Thanks.

So it is not worth it. The critical damage at the end is multiplicative with the other damage bonuses and that is why is so good.

Well going by this logic every percentage buff and debuff in this game is multiplicative at some point.

But for this item it is specific. Because it is the crit replacement. But it is not calculated the same way. In order to reach 16% damage increase you need 30% crit with 53% crit damage. But if you have other buffs that increase your damage then 30% crit with 53% crit damage is better than malacath.

It's not. Almost every percentage buff and debuff is less powerfull percentage wise if You add more of the buffs or debuffs from the same category. This item is just designed for a specific purpose when You either have extra small crit chance or fighting enemies with very high crit resistances or if You have so much crit dmg over the cap that You can afford loosing 50%.

malacaths can be OK still, if you are already bordering/over the crit dmg cap

if you are at 150% crit dmg for example, using malacaths would give you the 16% dmg bonus, but you would be brought down to 100% crit dmg, which would still have room for buffs/debuffs

on certain builds its possible to get over the crit dmg cap without a lot of outside buffs/debuffs, so if you reduce your crit dmg then those outside buffs/debuffs could bring you back to the crit dmg cap

If you dont have invest into crit dmg you have about 50% crit dmg and enemy player uses rallyng cry or impregnable armor he has at least 45% crit dmg reduction so your crits hit only 5% higher than your normal dmg, so malacath increases your dmg.
If you dont invest into crit chance your crit chance is 10%(maybe slightly higher because of cp and (1) light armor), 22% if you get major savagery.
