vSE HM Wamasu Overwhelming Lightning

Bitter_Apple21
Never did this before, so apologies if not directed correctly.

Noticed last evening on vSE HM two wipes on the Wamasu Overwhelming lightning. When I dug into thing I noticed that on those two wipes, the peak Damage Done (via ESO Logs) actually exceeded 100k (have screen shots/logs if needed).

We have been progging this particularly fight over the past 3-5 wks, and in the past the peak Damage done has been in the 15k-20k range.

If I were to count - prior to this occurance - the number of times I have stood in the Overwhelming LIghtning and NOT died, it would likely be 30-40, so I think something changed on that damage output recently.

I can't say I have seen this. There are definitely bugs and inconsistencies on this fight since the update. But I have yet to see issue with the breath. My MM group has 8 clears in our last two raid days and haven't seen it (but we aren't spending tons of time on a specific boss either). At the same time we saw her start the fight with shrapnel at 100% health so not saying its out of the realm of possibilities.

By chance the tank didn't accidentally enrage the wamasu by dodge rolling or something? This can make the breath do a lot more damage. Can I see your logs?

Sure, the one from last night or the ones pre patch?
And yes, the MT mentioned that maybe I am now
getting affected by some of the debuffs, but when I read up on Nilandia guide, nothing shows that the damage goes up 400%-600%. I can see in some of the other logs pre patch, that maybe from 15k to 25k would be a 60% increase due to a roll dodge or something, but this damage was off the charts.

This is a log of one wipe from last night. The third attack peaked at 77k. On Wipe 3, it peaked at 117k.

And this one is a log (4 pulls) pre patch.

Okay, I can see that the "value" of the peak damage changes with the time scale chosen, so although something still seems odd that after so many pulls in whatever tactic/practice I was doing where I did not wipe to one where it happened 2 pulls in a row, I need to make sure that I am comparing things on the same time period or duration.

I had a look through the log you shared from last night.

You died three times with overwhelming lightning.

The first time you died to overwhelming lightning, you also had hemorrhage. That dot will ignore your shields and resistances, ticking a flat 20% of your health each time. There's nothing you can do except heal through it. The hemorrhage was the largest contributor to your health loss, far more than the overwhelming lightning.

The other two times, the logs indicate that you were not blocking when you were getting hit with overwhelming lightning.

I double-checked the damage output from overwhelming lightning, comparing the two logs you posted. I'm not seeing anything out of the ordinary at first glance. The lightning is used for similar duration, the ticks are at a similar frequency, and the damage is about the same level.

Unless there's something I've overlooked, at least in this regard, it doesn't seem to have changed.

Thanks. And sorry, I should have mentioned in my post to not focus on the first 11min pull. The "thing" that had caught my attention only started on the second pull.

Interesting on the log showing not blocking - maybe my controller has finally "kicked the bucket". I run a controller, and I will admit in the past, there are times that I think if I am not FULLY depressed on the left button, sometimes I take damage when I feel that I am "blocking". Point being, when we kicked off the third pull, I was sensitive to that possible scenario as being the cause of the death on the second pull, so on the third pull, I know that the block button was fully squeezed when I started with the Wamasu.

So when I died to that one, we started wondering (for we had come across the current frozen tomb bug thing earlier in the evening), if we have stumbled across another block bug. There was some tank to tank discussion about if the hinder or other series of debuffs had suddenly started hitting me or I had suddenly started dealing with the Wamasu differently so that on these pulls I was actually causing the debuffs to occur.

Anyway, I decided to start at the source and see what the damage output is from the Wamasu. So, when I looked at the 10 sec portion of the hits in pull 2 and 3, what caught my eye was the peak damage. I am in the process of charting each 10 sec fight going back to Jul 5, but so far, the two last night are the only two that I have come across where the peak "tick" is approx 440k.

If nothing else, I am continuing to learn how to use logs..... :)

But thanks very much for helping me. If nothing else, I know on the third pull, I was blocking, so if the logs are showing I was not, either 1) there is some bug or 2) my controller is toast.

This was your damage taken on the third pull leading to death. The blue numbers are damage that was shielded. At the very end, the damage went through the shield and then to your health, but it was not blocked.

Thanks again. And sorry for asking so many questions, but the screen shot you are showing, what or where is that one? It looks a lot like the Health Resource chart, but if so, the one that shows on my log does not show "(Blocked)", but if I am reading it correctly, it is showing the same damage numbers, but that I am being healed.

Oops, I copied the image, but when I past it (at least in this draft screen) it is just a website line.2n2ck6j7zfna.png
