Zero value trash armor/weapon items

Why this trash is still in game and drops in great number from lots of urns especially dwemer ones.
They give absolutely no benefit, return no materials when deconstructed, cannot be sold for money and their only purpose is to be destroyed.
Recently I was searching Dwemer ruins and got about hundred of them, only to waste time on destroying all.
Please ZOS, make them worth something or give them some chance to drop mats during deconstruction.

Are those like the ones you can steal where deconing on another character/having another person decon it provides stuff?

I agree, same with single lockpicks as the sole item in urns.

I think the trash items are just there to dilute the loot tables so you get less good stuff.

In the beginning, armor pieces and such did have a gold value, then someone complained that is made gold farming so much easier, as well as mat farming. So it was changed that gear/weapons looted form containers had no value and did not render mats.

When stealing was added, they returned some value to stolen weapons and armor, and added the limit to the number of items you can fence / launder.

Edit to add, i do agree that those items should be removed to help with loot tables

They count for the "deconstruct x items" daily endeavors.

Those 0-gold pieces of gear DO yield mats when deconstructed, but the chance is very small.

You can potentially get back the basic mat, the style mat, and possibly the trait mat if there's a trait on it-- but I think anything with a trait will usually be worth some gold.

To verify that you CAN get something back, I recommend deconstructing anything that has a gold value first, waiting for the results to stop popping up on your screen, and then deconstruct a whole bunch of 0-gold items at once.

This can be a way to accumulate occasional mats which are below your character's level, such as Sanded Nightwood, Void Cloth, Voidstone Ingots, and Electrum Dust.

Of course, since the chance of getting any mats from them is small, it's up to you to decide if it's worth picking them up in the first place. If I'm looting and run out of space, and am in a zone where I'm not allowed to summon my assistants, any 0-gold items are the first to get destroyed so I can get back a few more available slots.

Rejoice  . With Update 39, which is now on the PTS, those items (Armors, Weapons, Lockpicks, etc.) will get back a Gold value. That value will be 1 gold  !

    Unifying Unsellable Items
We’ve made changes to certain items to allow for better understanding surrounding what can and cannot be sold. These changes should make the experience of selling items significantly more consistent and clearer.
    • Any item that is listed as 0 gold in your inventory cannot be sold.
    • Certain items that were previously listed as 0 gold in your inventory but could still be sold to merchants will now be valued at 1 gold. Items impacted by this change include:
      • Weapons and armor picked up directly from clickable items throughout the environment
      • Certain crafting materials
      • Low level provisioning food and drink
      • Lockpicks
      • Items found in the tutorial

Wonderful, so they think that someone will want to drag 100 items worth 1 gold each, to a nearest merchant only to earn 100 gold. When during this route (or a similar time) one can kill many creatures for much more gold plus get higher value items from monsters.
With 1 gold value it's still better to destroy all items than keep them in inventory as they are identical but cannot stack. They drop from urns in Dwemer delves in great numbers. 1 gold is really same as zero gold.

PS. I don't use assistants for Crowns, so have to run/tp to nearest merchant.

@Gargath, if you aren't already in a guild then I recommend joining one that has crafting tables and assistants in its guild hall, or find a friend who has those in their house.

When you're loaded up with stuff you want to decon, sell, or bank, just TP to your guild's hall or friend's house to do all of that, and when you're done you can TP to some house you don't own yet to preview it. When you exit the preview, you'll be back out in the wilderness where you were before, or outside the entrance to whichever delve or public dungeon or dungeon you were in (if you had walked in through the entrance), or wherever you were before you'd queued for a dungeon (if you'd queued or ported there directly).

It's a little more convenient than having to go all the way into a town to do deconning, selling, and banking, although it isn't as convenient as having the assistants so you can summon them whenever you need them.
