Companion quests popping up despite not even leveling them.

Are companion's second quests timed, or do they show up after they reach a certain level? There have been two instances with some I haven't played with since getting them last year that upon summoning, they have their new quest pop up. I always thought it was when leveled up.

In U38 they reduced the amount of rapport needed for each companions rapport level. I'm guessing this resulted in these companions now having enough rapport for the next level/quest even though you had not played them.

the companion quests always show up after reaching a new rapport rank

i believe the default starting rank is 3

you get a companion quest at ranks 4, 5, 6 (rank 7 is max) (for older companions like bastian and mirri who only have 2 companion quests, it would stop at rank 5)

as mentioned, they narrowed the requirements to reach each of those rapport ranks pretty significantly

the daily quests for the companions being 125 pts each and the quests themselves being 500 pts each makes it really easy to get all the way to rank 6 (with the 2 new companions i was able to max out their rapport in less than a weeks worth of dailies)
