(SPOILER) Before the ending, what did you think the forbidden knowledge of the Necrom questline was?

As soon as we saw Hermaeus Mora "take back" the knowledge from Vaermina/Peryite/Torvesard halfway through the questline, I totally thought that the "forbidden knowledge that threatened the very fabric of reality" was the fact that they all actually just existed in a video game and that they weren't really real. I mean that would pretty much destroy their entire existence, right? I ended up enjoying what the forbidden knowledge was in the end but I still think that would have been an amazing/hilarious end to the quest. What were your speculations before you reached the end?

i don't think knowing they're in a videogame would do anything to nirn or these characters. probably wouldn't really affect them that much.

i don't remember having expectations honestly

i like the actual secret though a Lot

I had no idea. At one point I thought maybe it’d be a Jyggalag thing but that wouldn’t make sense for ESO since he is still sharing with Sheo.

On the topic of knowing they’re in a video game: it is actually possible for characters to realize they’re within a Dream. This is called CHIM. It’s a dangerous process where one can cease to have ever existed or become a god. Some believe Dagoth Ur achieved anti-CHIM where he believes himself to be the Dreamer. Not quite “I’m in a video game” but basically same thing. I always thought the Godhead was a metaphor for Todd Howard or something.
