Let's be honest: the two bars gamedesign was a mistake

I love 2 bar. It creates build diversity, allows more skills to be used, it creates dynamic game play and lets me use 2 different weapon set ups. Also what is with the console vs PC stuff. I literally do not understand.

It’s ok they already nerfed heavy attacks I guess the elitists are more important than us solo players who want a more relaxed experience.
I'm one of those who believe reward should be proportional to effort.

I think the game (and this forum) would be so much nicer if people would stop attacking other people's playing styles. ZOS' policy is to encourage players to play the way they want, but sometimes I wonder if that's really the prevailing attitude on this forum. I don't even feel comfortable sharing any details about my play style or equipment any more, because there's always someone on the forum ready with negative commentary.

I recently changed to Xbox. It was cheaper than buying a new PC. ( Problems with disc space available.)
It looks and works better for me anyway.
I tried oakensoul and it's so limiting. For sorcerers with pets 2 bars work better for me.

I think it's a brilliant system, it allows to make very creative builds, not only on the combat style of things, but in any playstyle that you want to build around, including farming, thieving and so on. I still lament the loss of the Overload third bar, that was a really cool design, and made the class very special. It's not just the use of more skills and a second weapon, it's also the choice you have to make when playing, which makes playing so much more engaging, and that's self-evident anytime you use your skills. The thing is OP if you don't like the system you don't have to use it, even before the Oakensoul mythic there were easy-sorc builds that used minimal skills, and now you can complete full trifectas without a single bar, so why the need to take what makes combat so diversive, interesting, and unique away... ESO is its combat system, but a very vocal part has been trying to chip it away for years, which resulted in the homogenization of classes and an increasing oversimplification of combat. I wonder if writs are the only thing left, people will finally be happy.

I have no problem with two bars of 5 keys each for skills. My problem is that I HATE micromanaging a whole bar of buffs that last typically from 8 to 30 seconds. Oakensoul is one very good answer. Another very good answer would be to push buff durations out to a longer period of time (like 60 seconds minimum).

    Favorite Foods and Potions

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

I play on PC, even have a mouse with 12 buttons on it, but absolutely love the 5 skills and a ultimate on each bar.

My fingers don't have to dance across an entire keyboard, I can map the extra buttons on my mouse to auto run, mounting, bar swapping, potions, etc, and I have to think about what abilities and weapons I want.

Removing bar swapping is a bad idea in my opinion, and if I wanted to have a million abilities able to be used at any time I would play an MMO that has such a system. I personally hated Star Trek Online's combat system where I had about 4 lines of 10 powers, and I spent more time looking at my ability tray than actually playing the game.

Sadly, with 2 bars, people are doing just that... staring at their bars to keep the buffs up, instead of actually playing the game.... the Devs already made comments about it prior to U35.... and listed it as one of the reasons for U35.

Honestly, I see the Arcanist being a new feature... they have a skill that stays in effect, even if on the backbar ...... and we already have skills that stay up, like DOTS when you swap bars... and others, like pets, that drop instantly.......

So, here we go ..... will the Arcanist be the new flagship of ideas... that will then filter to the other classes... or will the Sorc be the flagship, as the idea of DOTs and HOTs dropping, instantly, when the bar swapped has also been floated.... especially with PVP people complaining about Ball Groups.......

We'll get to see, soon, I guess ....

Solving your ''problem'', just use Oakensoul, have fun!

Oakensoul removes 6 skills from the rotation.

The number of abilities isn't what sucks, it's having to switch between bars that's clunky. Throw me 40 skills at once, I wouldn't care, but switching bars feels pretty bad, personally, I always felt like it's interrupting the flow of my rotation rather than being a part of it.

I prefer the current system, which is pressing buttons further and further away from the usual 1-10 instead of the traditional 1-5 (Mouse click is worse for rotations because of light attacks), it would be a problem to have only one type of weapon... And I find it difficult for ZoS to adapt certain things, like this, for gamers, like accessibility, but i agree on one thing, the swamp bar should be a bit faster.

The development effort to allow players to toggle between the current bar-swapping mechanism and a multi-bar-many-buttons configuration should be relatively low.

It's likely the only reason we can't have the best of both worlds is that the bar-swapping mechanism is some Zenimax designer's "vision" of what the game should be like -- no matter what customers want.
