The other major problem in PvP, Smart Healing System

I realize this system was put in place for the Console, but this system is simply awful anywhere else. In fact most of the healers in my guild complain about this pretty much every single day.

They see a Tank being beat on, that tank might be at 60% life, But some guy behind them, Not even in the group...might be at 59% health and not being hit, gets healed.

If you're going to have a Smart Healing system, make it only work on people actually in groups, while leaving things like Ground Target heals for people outside the group.

Have to agree... a change needed is heals should favour your group members over people not in your group.

    A very simple fix.

died so many times because i'm trying to heal myself with templar heal and it goes off and heals some random person not even in my group.

hands down the most frustrated feeling i've ever had in any mmo i've played (and i've played qutie a few)

As a Templar healer that does a lot of pvp I cant but agree with this.
The healing priority should be like:

    - Your target (if not full)
    - Yourself (if not full, preferably with a button to force a self cast)
    - Lowest team member
    - Anyone outside the team.

    Healing should also take into account certain debuffs;

I often use Balance (Equilibrium) to restore magicka so I can heal someone else, only to end up healing myself (and not even doing healing because of the 4second self healing reduction on balance).

Same goes for vampires that go in mist form, they are immune to healing I believe. So that means they should not be auto targeted for heals!

It should also exclude NPCs & Pets, unless specifically targeted, as long as real players are around. I don't want either getting priority because they have lower health than players I'm keeping topped off (ground target AOE excepted).

I can't stand this as a healer. Nothing like watching your group members taking damage, trying to heal, only to heal someone not in your group! They REALLY need to put in a group priority system with healing.

Oddly enough, I've had Templars heal me when I was neither missing any health nor under the effects of a DOT so the "smart" aspect of the system still needs some tweaking, methinks.

Thats rushed ritual with 3 target heals morph- you saw a line trail right? Yeah thatll hit 3 targets regardless if you are healed or not.

Yep, there was a line. Still, I was just one out of a big clump of allies; figured there had to be at least a few people more deserving than I in that mess. Then again, I supposed it was a rushed ritual. Ah, but I jest.

So very frustrated with this healing system. Most of my gaming is done in a duo with my husband. I'm clicking my regen 4-5 times to get one to tick on him. /headdesk /headdesk /headdesk

Fully agreed. It's very annoying seeing those heals affecting whoever except the target you had in mind.

I agree with the OP, Smart healing isnt always that smart, especially for PvP

    Here are a few examples:

Player in my group is low health so i throw out a large heal but instead of hitting them it hits some random person that isnt in my group at all and I have to keep spamming my big heal multiple times before it gets to him.

I am low health and being attacked so I use a large heal but my "smart" heal heals someone else near me and I end up dying because of it.

Give me more control over my heals, let me have a menu where I can fine tune how my heals work. For example it can give me options to heal group members first, heal myself first, give me percentages on when a group member or myself is priority, for PvE you could have a focus heal target who gets priority as well. I am sure there are other options that could be added to this. They can still be smart heals but this lets me fine tune how my heals work to fit my role or group.

First, nothing was designed with consoles in mind. Not a single thing in the game. It was originally planned for PC only release and all these systems were the same back then. So stop saying it people.

Second, the healing in this game is amazing for the most part. I love love love just about everything about it. Its literally the first time I've ever enjoyed healing in an MMO, because its so much more active. I have to actually fight off mobs, which means some CC and damage are must haves even in a heal spec.

All that said, I do agree that the smart heals could be a little smarter. I'd like to see the following rules built into the heals:

    1. Grouped players with missing health always take precedence over non-grouped players
    2. Players with missing health always take precedence over NPCs with missing health
    3. Player pets with missing health always take precedence over NPCs with missing health
    4. Grouped players with missing health always take precedence over player pets with missing health

I'm not sure whether I'd prefer for player pets (grouped or own) or non-grouped players to take precedence though.

"One thing that players are unlikely to see in a future patch is huge changes to the UI. MMO players in particular are used to having a lot of numbers and additional information available to them, whereas ESO tends to stick with basic graphical representations of stats. Paul explains that the game was designed to be used without a mouse (on consoles, for example) so they can’t just hide details away behind tooltips. Fortunately, the game has “embraced the add-on community” and encourages players to use them liberally to create their perfect UI."
