Currently farming down my third - Moons Blessed Ceremonial Pool in Moonlit Cove.

Ready to pull my hair out rn.

Can anyone confirm / deny that lead drop rate % decreases with every find of said lead?

I remember the first 2 leads of this item being a PITA - but this 3rd one is killin me

    my experience is this:
    • first drop: very very quick
    • second drop: very very slow
    • third+ drop: slower than the first, but faster than the second and stays pretty consistent

Do you mean in general, or for that specific antiquity? Because my experience with certain antiquities is that I get the leads very frequently; it seems like as soon as I dig one up, I might turn around and find another one. Those antiquities (furnishings you can find in various zones) might have different drop rates than other types of antiquities; I honestly don't know because I don't grind for specific antiquities. All I know is, there are certain antiquities I've found a dozen or so times because of where they drop from and how frequently they drop.

That one is cursed for me, it took over a year to get the first one, just after the most recent update. I haven't tried for a second one yet.

My feeling and (anecdotal) observation is that the drop rates stay constant, but are definitely RNG driven, so often seem to come in oases and droughts.

I recall getting three leads for this fairly quickly when I was deliberately farming it. And with having done the three I can now purchase it for gold from the Achievement Housing Vendor there,

How quickly leads drop seems to depend on many factors, including how many active leads you currently have.

Each Lead has it's own drop rate.

It's RNG. Small sample size biases abound!

Pro tip: stop actively looking for it. The Desire Sensor knows you wants it and won't give it to you.

I see this as very unlikely, it would be pretty easy to test with something with an decent drop chance like the void crystal abnormalities who has an 10-15% chance dropping picking flowers in Hollow city.
Check drop rate with no or few leads, then run around create blue leads from all the zones and see if drop chance changes.

In short, making some very complicated system for lead drops would eat up developer time and be an source for bugs and exploits. More so because its all on top on often low rng its also an system who is very hard to test.

One obvious constrain, if you have one lead active you will not get an second of same set until its dug up.
So you got an ancient Nord style lead you will not get an second until its dug up. But I'm pretty sure fragments are not grouped like this as they had different drop sources.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Earlier today I decided to get my second example of the moonlit pool (to use the lighting effects). It took me about an hour, but with frequent diversions to kill stuff. I found the lead in a backpack next to a broken wagon that is outside the Forsaken Citadel delve.

i think the lead can come from any urn/backpack in the zone (or the other delve) but the moonlit cove delve has the highest density of lootable containers to try to farm for the lead

I'm wondering how this is implemented? Did ZOS implement the drop probability such that it's spread over all the eligible containers in a zone/area, meaning that more containers results in lower drop rate per container, or is the drop rate fixed for any container? Does anyone know?

    more containers = more chances

ive never gotten the lead outside of moonlit cove cause there are so few lootables, i would say those who do get the lead outside of the delve are actually just extremely lucky

I got the lead on two accounts not long back (couple months maybe) from two different urns in Senchal Harbor. I don't really care if I get any more on those accounts.
