Why no trophy vaults in other dungeons than Imperial City

Out of curiosity, I was wondering why the trophy vaults system from Imperial City wasn't carried through to other dungeons?

For those who don't know, the vaults in Imperial City, including the dungeons, are accessible once you gain X number of key fragments by killing enemies in the zone. Each vault guarantees you a random drop from the relevant sets (not including the monster sets). In the case of the Imperial City dungeons, that means a sort of bonus chance of getting set items you may be grinding the dungeon for.

It feels like a nice idea to reduce the grind in ALL dungeons of running it 100 times just to get that one destruction staff or whatever. Like a nice little "free spin of the roulette wheel" reward that you get for your efforts, which is not curated. While curated drops have reduced the grind a bit (as has transmutation), they're far from perfect especially when a dungeon has multiple sets or if you're after the weapons, which drop from the end bosses only.

In non IC dungeons i don't know what would replace the key fragments. Maybe key fragments from killing enemies in the dungeon in question, maybe key fragments accumulating from killing enemies in *any* dungeon that can be used in whichever dungeon's trophy vault you like.

What do people think?

They have done exactly that in Scrivener's Hall
With an added mechanic whereby if you save your keys as a group so that you can open all the chests there is a bonus reward

It makes Scrivener's Hall pretty unique so I'm not sure I'd want to se it replicated too much.

Haven't played it but awesome. I hadn't done IC before a couple of months ago and it was just a "this is a really good idea why isn't this everywhere" revelation.

I like being able to go gear extra gear with keys/fragments... I HATE the extra slots taken up.

At least with fragments they can be tossed in the bank. The new keys from Hall CANNOT! Heaven forbid every dungeon dropped a unique key, I would just end up tossing them out the way I did the keys from IC that dropped during the event a while ago.

Yes I don't understand why keys aren't treated as a currency.

I did not realise you can't bank them, do they not stack either?

You can use them right away unless you are saving for the bonus of course.

    Greetings,

This thread has been moved to the Dungeons, Trials & Arenas section, as it is better suited there.

    Thank you for your understanding.

I like the idea in common.
Really it would just add more grind. If you play IC a bit more, you will feel it. The grind which is not neccessary after curated drop implemented. But I think grind is not a pure evil, if it is a matter of choice.
The question is how to make it balanced.

There are a few possible fragment balance problems.
Really, IC allows to get fragments in more than one place and spend them in more than one place either. ICP and WGT are just a part of this ecosystem. It makes implementation of such system for other dungeons problematic.

Should we add fragments to zones as it is done in IC? If so, how to distibute it between zones - connect with dungeon in this zone or make it common? If fragments are different for different dlc and player doesn't have dlc, should player get dlc fragments dropped in zone?
Even if we don't put keys in zone drop, there are still lots of questions.

How to distribute key fragments in dungeons? Make them common between all 4-people content? Grinders will run FG to spend fragments in any other one. We had that effect with random dungeon exploited few years ago.

Distribute dungeons into sections and make a fragment for each section? We have sections for undaunted pledges for instance. It would just make it's own "FG" inside each section with the same result.

Make different key fragments for each pair of dungeons? Players would curse that system for inventory problems. I'm fed of stonegarden shrooms and fragments. I don't want the same from every dungeon really.

Turn fragments into a currency? IIRC we have 52 dungeons now. For each pair of dungeons it would be +26 new currencies. I didn't mention arenas and trials. It is overwelming. If do so, the whole currency system should be reformed.

Leave one type of fragments and range reward by dungeon difficulty? Like FG drops 1 fragment, ERE drops 5? People will still ask if the coefficient is fair.
Also it is still a question if a person who didn't run ERE even once is eligible to obtain gear from it.

As you can see, each variant pulls more questions and more problems. Summary I'm not sure if all these problems worth solving while we have curated drop + treasure chests in dungeons.

the biggest problem nowadays with those vaults is that they are NOT curated, where just running the dungeon the boss drops are curated

way back in the day it was much better than grinding for sure, but with the curation i find them to be less useful unless you wanted purple jewelry without running it on vet
