hey all
i'm a returning player, after a long break (since morrowind or maybe clockworkcity)
I used to play NOPET magicka sorc, the basic one.
I feel lost, completly ...
I am forced to play hybrid now?
i saw everywhere that no pet magicka sorc is now the worst of the worst, with CF not cc ing anymore, Harnessmagicka nerfed to the ground, healing ward nerfed to the ground also, and most of skill now dodgable. and after few time in game i feel they were right
How im supposed to play the way i want now? ( magicka sorc with destro/healingstaff with no pet)
i'm open to all the advice since with all the search i didnt the only feedback i get was "go stamina, hybrid or go other class

I feel for you, and anyone who likes the no pet magsorc. Assuming you want to be competitive in pvp, I recommend watching Malcolm’s latest video on Magicka Sorcerer. It is probably your best bet in terms of build and playing style. Even so, Malcolm notes that it’s pretty mediocre vs other classes that have significant advantages, and not much fun.

There are dozens if not hundreds of threads articulating MagSorc’s problems in PvP.

The short of it is: if you run into an NB who’s decent, you’ll be dead quickly. Run into a DK who’s decent, you’ll be alive a few seconds longer.

StamSorc is much stronger than MagSorc, but they mostly rely on spin-to-win or dizzy with haunting curse and hurricane, and that style is just dry as dust boring, at least for me.

    Good luck…

Shield sorc is decent now. Shields got a buff. I run crafty Alfiq, grace of ancients, chudan (free up a slot) will power resto and dragonstar destro with the flame clench dot. 5 light 1 med 1 heavy.

Back bar wretched vitality with defending resto
Front bar rallying cry or spinners or draugrkin (charged in this case) sharp inferno
    1 death dealers fete
    1 trainee
2 monster set (balorgh or bloodspawn or engine guardian) (don't use balorgh with overload)

40k+ hp, 30k+ mag easily, huge sustains, high spell damage, 10k shield

With a spell power (mag, spell crit, spell damage) potion:

Mages wrath, force pulse/crushing weapon, resolving vigor, frags/crystal weapon, streak, overload/atro/dawnbreaker

Race against time, rapid regen/dark conversion, hardened ward, haunting curse, hurricane, negate/resto staff ult

    With no spell power potion:

Mages wrath/haunting curse/frags, force pulse/crushing weapon, resolving vigor, camo hunter, streak, overload

Race against time, rapid regen/dark conversion, hardened ward, crit surge, hurricane, negate/resto staff ult

30+ points into hp, rest into mag (can put all 64 into hp), sugar skulls, atro mundas, 3 heavy 2 light 2 medium or 3 heavy 3 light 1 medium
Reinforced on heavy pieces, well fitted or impen on medium/light pieces
Heavy pieces should be always be the chest, and then pick from shoulders/pants/boots/helm
Light pieces should always be the belt, and then gloves, and then whatever else
    Medium whatever remains
Resto staff should have a 350 wd/sd enchant
Inferno staff should have double dot poison or shock glyph
Jewels should be infused or bloodthirsty with damage enchants

Magsorc is still very potent in the right hands. One of my good friends constine has been blowing up people in high mmr bgs on his

Well, no-pet mag sorc is not worse than Necromancer. :)

That said, it is bad. You are missing key kit, which forces you to give up the best sets...running resto back bar for instance. Burst still takes too many GCD applied directly to target to line up. Burst is too low. Damage shields, especially stacked shields, are much less effective than block casting a burst heal.

The missing burst heal is the fundamental problem with Sorc, in my opinion.

Play dk or nb. Mag sorc is trash.

Forums will paint a different picture about this of course as they all claim to be more knowledgeable and skillful compared to me. But fact is they are all on their DK’s or NB waiting to farm you on sorc

Stick to reality and not fantasy. You will find out soon enough anyway

I know his build and he one of the best players no doubt

However it’s still not as good as dk and nb. It pretty much melts in 5 seconds against a well played dk. That build is great if you maintain range and want to sit behind a warden or something

Without Mara’s balm and masters dual wield sorc is worthless. But then those sets are again much better on dk

Thank u all for the anwser and the tips.
I tested a Stamina NB build with lot of poison and that seems completly broken, so easy to play that in comparaison with a magicka sorc xD!!

    Good game all <3

I've always found stamina more fun.
