Contest - The Great Houses of Morrowind (PC - EU/NA)

Calling all Great House builders! With the announcement of the new chapter, Necrom, I am excited to host a contest for the best Great House builds in Elder Scrolls Online. Show off your skills and compete for a chance to win some amazing prizes! Entries are limited to 50 competitors. Be sure to check the rules for all the requirements before submitting your build.

Submission period: 25 january - 25 february

Rules:

- Entries are capped to 50 competitors. A single screenshot is required with your application to ensure that your entry qualify for this contest.

- To enter the contest, your House must be set as visitor or limited visitor for the judging period. It is the contestant's responsibility to ensure that the house is open and accessible.

- We are looking for custom-made entries that are considerate with lore and characteristics of the Great Houses of Morrowind in regard to architectural features and cultural aspects. Creativity is encouraged, but please keep in mind the details and story you want to tell with your entry.

- Entries must be done on medium size houses (400 slots), large size houses (600 slots) and manor size houses (700 slots).

- Decorating must be done by the contestant and plagiarism will not be tolerated. Special furnishings are allowed without limit, but please refrain from using any Essential housing tools effects.

- Winners will be selected by hand-picked judges. Judges will be announced once the entry period has been closed to avoid bias.

Telvanni houses will not be included in this contest as they have been heavily represented community wide and we would like to encourage showcasing of the lesser seen Great Houses of Morrowind builds.

Prizes:

1st place: 5,000,000 gold + 5,000 crowns
2nd place: 3,000,000 gold + 3,000 crowns
3rd place: 2,000,000 gold + 1,500 crowns
4th place: 1,500000 + 2x crown crates
5th place: 1,000000 + 1x crown crates

To clarify, does this need to be a custom build and not, say, decorating the Velothi Harbor house?

The primary focus of the Great House building contest is to encourage players to push their boundaries and create unique, custom-built houses from scratch. However, we understand that there may not be enough entries that fit this criteria and therefore, entries that are not custom-built will still be considered and judged accordingly. It should be noted, however, that custom-built houses tend to rank higher in general due to the level of creativity and effort put into them. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Unfortunately, this player-sponsored contest is only available on PC-EU and PC-NA servers so participation on PlayStation or Xbox servers is not possible. I apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your question. Perhaps, in the future, there will be opportunities to include other platforms but currently that isn't possible.

Well I seem to have missed some major crafting plans. Otherwise I have no idea how to build a custom house for any of the Dunmer styles. I have never seen any arcetectureal plans for any of the Dunmer houses.

Sadly I have still many crafting plans to buy until I can enter a competition on this topic. So I'll look forword to the screenshots or videos of the winner houses

There are telvanni, dres, hlaalu, indoril (...) style furniture in the game--- There are as well a really large amount of structures in the game which were added in the past few years. The purpose of this contest is to make people think outside the box and be creative using the current available resources..

Once Zeni release Necrom and we get anymore dunmer furnitures and structures it kinda looses the point to me so I wanted to do this as soon as possible

Well I am aware of the furniture for the interior. But I don't recall ever seeing any walls, floors, roofs, doors or windows for these styles. Of cause you can use structural elements from other styles. But it will be interesting to see how far you can come with those. I have a hard time imagening to build a redoran Stile house with those.

Judging will take something around 2 weeks (based on judges availability) and the winners will be announced in this page.

Judge panel consists of me along with the following server representatives.

Judging criteria:
The judging criteria include aesthetics and creativity, and the judges have been provided with the following list as guidelines.

Hlaalu Architecture: Mud bricks, flat roofs, cluttered interiors.
Redoran Architecture: Organic materials, built into hills/mountains, functional interiors.
Dres Architecture: Chitin, stilts, dark interiors with practicality focus.
Indoril Architecture: Stone, glass, tall with austere religious interiors.
Ashlander Architecture: Nomadic yurts, natural materials, ritual masks and totems.

Remember, guidelines are not fixed rules. These were provided just so the judges can have an idea on to what refer to since they are not experts.

I especially loved the Hlaalu market and the Ashlander camp!

I’m surprised no one chose House Redoran, but their architecture seems like it would be particularly challenging.

We are excited to announce the winners of the Great Houses of Morrowind Housing Contest! The competition was intense, with impressive submissions showcasing your creativity, attention to detail, and love for the game.

We would like to extend our gratitude to everyone who participated in the contest. Your hard work and dedication in creating beautiful in-game housing designs did not go unnoticed.

We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to the judges of the contest, @JHartEllis, @Nordenheim, and @NovaDrakkon. Their expertise and attention to detail in evaluating each submission made this contest a success.

Without further ado, here are the winners of the Great Houses of Morrowind Housing Contest:

First Place: Congratulations to @Mloking (PC/EU), whose detailed design of Quondam Indorilia impressed the judges. This Dres settlement is used as a resting point for slave transport between Mournhold and Ebonheart. Your attention to detail, use of space, and overall aesthetic truly captured the essence of Morrowind's Great Houses.

Second Place: A round of applause to @Lilithnya (PC/EU), whose Hlaalu market town (Strident Spring Desmene) wowed the judges with its unique architecture and immersive design. Your use of in-game items and attention to detail in creating this market town was greatly executed.

Third Place: Last but not least, congratulations to @coal106 (PC/NA), whose use of a Kwama mine (Amaya Lakelodge) as the centerpiece of their design for a small home overlooking Kragenmoor impressed the judges. Kwama mines are a common sight in Morrowind, and your incorporation of one into your design was both creative and fitting for the region. Your attention to detail in constructing the mine was impressive.

We would also like to give a special mention to the following participants who stood out with their exceptional designs:

Honorable Mention 4th Place: @Spell-Slinger (PC/NA), for your creative Camp of an Ashlander tribe design (Ebonheart Chateau). The five yurts with a communal area in the middle, with the Ashkhan's yurt in the center, captured the Molag Amur region of Vvardenfell perfectly.

Honorable Mention 5th Place: @Seecodenotgames (PC/EU) , for your impressive Forsaken Stronghold design. Your temple to Almalexia and the tribunal stood tall over a Dunmer town, drawing followers from across Morrowind to learn about the divines.

Once again, we want to thank all of the participants for their hard work and creativity. The passion and love you have for the game and its housing system are truly inspiring, and we cannot wait to see what you create next.
