A little more information would be helpful. Is this in regards to the weekly endeavor or something else?

When did random only become the only way to play in a death match?

    Found this on a website:

In 2022, all game modes but Deathmatch were removed. Separate queues for the other game modes were added as weekend events, offering a +25% bonus to Alliance Points earned.

Don't know if it answers your question entirely, but only thing I could find.

Zos removed the ability to queue for dm.
Most recently we had "random" and "dm" queues but zos didn't remove dm from the random queue in their coding so almost every game was dm.
If 11 people queued random and 1 queued dm, it would be a dm.

I prefer dm because the objective modes are almost all poorly designed and discourage pvp conflict due to 3 teams / too many objectives.

If zos wanted to fix this situation they would:

    1) have the option to queue for dm or random, but random has 0 deathmatch possibility (lowest effort fix)

    Or

    2) add a premade queue so groups could organize games themselves (medium effort fix)

    Or

    3) rework objective game modes to have either 2 teams (like EVERY objective based pvp game out there...counterstrike, cod, etc.) OR have fewer objectives so pvp is actually encouraged (medium effort fix)

Historically zos has put little to no effort into bgs, which is a dang shame considering bgs are wonderful type of pvp...small scale, fast paced, 15 minutes max, etc.

So until zos puts forth some effort, your options are:

    1) join a bg guild and do premades (almost all bg groups do dm for premades, no matter the game mode)

    Or

    2) play every game in solo queue as dm...which is what almost everyone I know does (I am a bg main, and I know hundreds of bg players on pcna)

They did this after the 2022 segment/test where they split BG queues into DM and Not DM, but due to the fact that the PvP player pool is small, they two queues were pulling players (and thus mode votes) from eachother and thus BG ended up being "whoops all deathmatch" for about 6 months, during which time the adverage queue time went from ~3 mins to ~25 mins and you would only encouter the same 30-ish people (at least on PC-EU) and to this date it has still not fully recovered with the adverage queue times being over 10 mins

It's bad. Don't get me wrong I know it's bad-- I'm going to try to be positive but that's just because we got what we got.

As others have said-- you can simply que for a random and pretend it's Deathmatch whatever you get.

You can also become a dueler... There's several places, depending on your platform, where you can spend hours just dueling over and over again.

And you can go to cyrodiil for some killing as well. I generally follow alongside a Zerg and kinda steal two or three baddies at a time off into a corner for fun. Depending on how good you are you can get some real good fights this way, fighting on resources or up in towers.

Moral of my story I guess is the game isn't honestly hurting for ways for PvPers to kill eachother. Some may not be exactly what you want but most can be turned into fun with a little of your own effort.

You can of course find times where Cyrodiil feels like PvDoor but for the most part if you want to take a castle then there'll be fighting involved. And if you don't want to hang around once the last enemy is dead then you don't have to. And yes there are times when in a battleground one team may try to avoid fighting so they can just "win," but for the most part if you chase the Chaosball there will be fighting... And for the most part if you try to steal someone else's relic you'll have to fight someone to do it... And for the most part if you're capping a flag in Domination someone will try to stop you.

It really is just what you make of it. If you don't care about objectives and only want to "DM" I encourage you to try to use the objectives to your advantage. It shouldn't be hard to find people to kill if you know where to look.

Um just getting enough players for the daily random on NA ps4/ps5 is a mission. Most of the time you ain't having a full game and one team is normally further down in players than the other two.

But i too wish dm was alot more often for it as it's Atleast the best to play with less people compared to the others.

    Greetings,

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic.

    Thank you for your understanding.

Every game mode is death match. In fact game modes that aren't death match are often more fun for death matching than actual death match when you're solo. I keep things fresh.

For CTR, anyone going to pick up a relic makes a great target for practicing your combo

For Chaos Ball, Whoever's holding the ball is a VIP. VIP targets are fun in PVP games.

Domination, you'd be surprised how many suckers will come (one by one ofcourse) to check out a flag that just turned white

Crazy King is hard to death matchify. Just play it like death match, but with flags. Out of all the modes this one has got to go. Flags spawn too rapidly for meaningful fights over a flag.

Omg @DrNukenstein thank you for saying that. I think you got Domination and Crazy King mixed up, but either way I agree. Kill people on the objectives, how hard is that??

I mean what I said OBJ. Neuting (decapping a flag) in domination often leads to great small fights and 1v1s. You can't really do that in Crazy King since the current flags start shifting too rapidly later in the game and the early game has too few active flags for that kind of shenanigans.

I guess a determined death matcher with an extremely long attention span could head to the Crazy King white flags first to catch the pve team trying to win the objective, but I don't have that attention span.
