Arcanist speculations/predictions/guesses?

Anyone has any thoughts they'd like to share? My feeling (or rather hope) is that Arcanist will be a kind of no-pet sorc. So it probably shines at ranged magicka damage. But since it'll have an entire skill line dedicated to healing it probably won't pack as much offensive power as a Sorc otherwise it'll be OP? Will it also mostly be single target direct damage? What stats will be boosted by passives? Hopefully either spell damage or crit! Will it have bonus for certain type of damage? I'm thinking maybe magic and disease? It'll probably be about 6 weeks till we start getting solid info so I think it's cool if we can make some predictions

At the very least they should be able to summon their own floaty ball of eyes and tentacles!

I just finally broke down and bought the pocket watcher pet with Seals of Endeavor so my Arcanist will have an appropriate pet following him around 😄

I’ve been wondering about Magicka/Stamina/Hybrid char concepts myself, and I recently noticed a lot of the video clips we have, and the trailer, feature characters using dual wield for weapons.

I theorize crux will be obtained and spent through abilities, maybe passives. Would be neat if there was a crux generation method for each role. It also seems like the order of skills will matter more than cooldowns? It’ll be interesting for sure.

DK's long awaited stam whip, but given to the arcanist. Using tentacles.

    DK's chains implemented using tentacles.

    Warden's gates reimplemented as portals.

Warden's netch reimplemented as a tethered watcher.

DK's wings reimplemented better as Warden's shimmering shield, reimplemented even better with tentacles.

    Warden's vines reimplemented using tentacles.

Templar jabs reimplemented using the old animation... and tentacles.

Dual wield flurry morphs into a new weapon skill... old flurry animation, with tentacles!

Interesting direction. Sounds very stam melee. I'm hoping for the opposite direction to be honest, ranged magicka

but you can only have your ranged magicka if (as indicated) it is ... with tentacle

It will likely work similar to necro corpse mechanic
Some ability generate corpse while others sppend them

Was thinking about it too for the pet, but the pre order pet is way cooler looking then the pocket one

The Arcanist class will be strong for a while, and then be nerfed most likely with in 3 months.

Not keen on the idea of triangles floating around me as a marker for the new power boost. At least an organic shape, like a diamond, if zos really feel they have to do something so ruddy obvious.... when i say, not keen, i mean, its another nail added into a fairly well nailed coffin....

    ....tentacles? No thank you.....

I think this new crux system is going to be a winner and will give builds a real chance to shine once mastered.

This thread has been moved to the Combat & Character Mechanics section, as it is better suited there.

They said players won't have to engage with the crux system if they don't want to, which leads me to believe the class will be op for those who master it and/or underpowered for those who don't. Sounds like it will be a highly volatile class design balance-wise so don't be surprised if it gets nerf-hammered 3 months after release because the top 5% of players are using it to its fullest potential.

Your properly tuned for actual end game content, and a complete sleeper experience for open world content.

When they say the crux system can be ignored, they are simply implying that if you just want to hop on the class and casually done zone content, you don't have to worry about it. You are overanalyzing this.
