Minion software messed up my new gaming rig

After installing Minion my pc started making a strange sound - maybe coil wine from the gpu or the fans making a scraping sound? The sound starts when ESO and other games begin. It disappears during loading screens. Have uninstalled Minion, but this new sound is still around. Is Minion malware? If not, why did this new annoying sound pop up immediately after I installed Minion on my brand new M.2 SSD?

What you are scribing sounds like a fan issue, juding from the fact that it only shows up when you play games it might be something in your GPU fan(s) or maybe one of the case fans crapped the bed, eaither way actually open that sucker up, boot up something that makes the noise and start looking for a fan that seems to be not be working like the rest of them.
The spific issue could vary from the fan simply being unbalanced to its starter coil not working, the former can be fixed by adjusting the screws holding the fan in, the latter by simply flicking the fan up to speed, or it could just be a failing fan, in which case, replace it, if it's on the GPU then, well, yikes.1 -

Minion isn't malware. It's barely even a program, it just downloads files into the correct folders for you.
It's probably just a fan that's loose. That kind of thing also doesn't really happen as a result of software since it's a hardware issue. Figure out which fan it is and replace itEdited by CameraBeardThePirate on 5 March 2023 17:221 -

Just lay it out in order as it happened, and ask if there's anything they know to help. BTW, one of my case fans was fubar'd when I first bought this machine; the manufacturer sent a tech out to fix it at my home the next day (because I bought the extended on site warranty). So fans can be an issue even in a new box.______________________________________________________

✭✭✭✭✭ESO's launch screen doesn't cap the FPS it can be at, so it will cause your GPU to spike, which can make the fans turn on high.
