Delmene Combo Killer PSA

This is just a PSA that may help some of you with your action ordering. I didn't know about this interaction until recently, but as it turns out, if you use a game action to destroy a card that has been played during the turn and was in the turns used card pile, then that destroyed card will not count toward your combo generation.

Example: I use Currency Exchange. I destroy used Currency Exchange with Patron Delmene's effect. I play Luxury Exports. Despite playing a Hlallu card earlier in the turn, the game doesn't see it properly, since it was destroyed, and Currency Exchanges Combo 2 effect will not be triggered.

Don't tank

"In future content we will probably adjust this model somewhat (The BOP model). It's definitely nice to be able to find a cool item that you don't need and trade it to someone who can't wait to get their hands on it." - Wrobel

I always made the wild assumption it worked this way but good to see it confirmed.

Sure, the thing I point out is a corner case, but could more likely happen when using Red Eagle, wanting to reveal cards in the tavern before playing cards any further, but then wanting to use a Red Eagle contract from the Tavern in order to reveal more of those tavern cards.

So if you play something like Peck and don't want to combo it because it would cause the cooldown pile to shuffle, then one has to wait to destroy peck with a red eagle card before comboing.

Thinking on the issue, that makes sense. You destroy the card, the combo is gone.

I only destroy coins or if I'm not touching a certain deck in the game, their starter cards.

I've run into this on occasion. It's a rather annoying and unintuitive design, in my opinion. However, it comes up so rarely for me that it's a reasonable expectation for players to just either never encounter it or learn to play around it. As mentioned before, it can also be a way to reward players who understand the mechanic by allowing them more control over their deck cycling rhythm. /shrug
