What version is on PTS at the moment?

    8.2.4, so essentially base U36

    Keep calm guys.
It's the best they can do for now... but... on the other side, CrownStore is working 100% and i have 2100k Crowns to sell.

Gotta love that suddenly, NOW the block bug is a big deal. Had it 1 and a half years ago as tank on Z'maja, Nocturnal's favor was a wonder to behold.

Yeah it is still possible to break the block.

I dont care much longetr about what someone is writing or explaining or patching. Noone wants to make chances at ac, only zos and iam pretty sure it has to do with it. However, this helps...

The live server is the real PTS.

As soon as I saw the note that it was a revert of sorts I knew they did no QC/QA. This just screams "Maintenance mode" to me and given what Matts letter boils down to I have no reason to think otherwise.

And why tell us 2 weeks ago a fix is being tested for it to just be a rollback?

It's safe to assume that several ways to fix something are looked at, and that a rollback is the "this needs more time" approach.

What really gets me about it is, that simple method of reproducing the block bug was well known. I logged in and tested it immediately, and in less than 10 seconds I proved that block is still bugged in some fashion.

Did ZOS even test it? How could they not have known?

Let's be clear. I've been a software developer for a very long time. If I'm fixing a bug, I definitely do a functional test to see if it's fixed (or enlist QA to do same).

This is hardly the first time. And it's what spikes my frustration with the company and the game.

    Exactly this @TooWeak2Live !

As a software developer myself I can second this and its absolutely embarassing...

I'm a software developer too and I've had some pretty bad stuff slip out to the live servers and you better believe the 2nd iteration was inspected and tested insanely well before being released. I have fired an entire team for calling something ready for release and tested while being blatantly broken. For ZOS to release something this broken 3 times in a row is evidence of a complete breakdown of the company from the top down. Very few people at ZOS seem to meet my definition of employable it seems.

Embedded systems. Timing related bugs in a real time system can be rather kinky to debug and fix when deployed setup is different than developing setup. But a fix is supposed to be a fix, replacing hardware is much more expensive than testing code.

Why not disable the automating unsheathing of weapons when you light attack? At least temporarily.

Force us to use V, R, or some other keybind to pull out our weapons. The bug is clearly caused by cancelling the "sheathed to light attack" animation.

Of course it won't feel right, but it's better than nothing.

I don't think it is limited to swapping while unsheathing. It's just a good way to reproduce it. In Cyrodiil, I would get it frequently. Often just teleporting or going through a door, or mounting where it's just auto sheath on its own, then suddenly couldn't block.

Unsheathing didn’t use to have this long animation in the first place. If cancelling that animation is the issue, then I’d suggest going back to when unsheathing was instant (as it is when you block) rather than a half-second or whatever it takes now (when you LA or use an ability).

The bug isn't solely linked to unsheathing weapons, it also has a few other places where it can occur. The unsheathing and bar swapping is just the easiest reproducible source of it.

I haven't hopped online to check, but it should definitely still help with the unsheathing trigger for the bug.

Any action that prevents client blocking terminating without allowing block again may or may not be a potential cause. Being mounted, sheathed weapon, bar swap, opening door, picking a lock, scrying or excavating, triggering a loadscreen and so on.

How has anyone at ZOS tested this?

They probably just rolled the dice and just randomly reverted some changes from U36 which could possibly be kind of related to the whole issue which maybe could have affected blocking mechanics :D

Or everyone is on christmas vacation already and some poor forum mod was forced to fix this by today.
