High Elf for damage or Breton for easier sustain. Khajiit and Dark Elf are also all close to high elf in DPS.

Thanks, how is sustain currently? i know it got to the point where sustain wasnt a big issue in certain metas. And is one better then the other for pve vs pvp? thanks again

High Elf is undoubtedly place 1 (or at least 2).

Dark Elf is on the same level if it comes to strength but is missing the little extra sustain the high elf has, so the high elf is still better, because a little sustain is handy on a Mag Sorc. But the advantage of the Dark Elf is that it is also the strongest option for stamina, so you could easily switch between both also you get extra resources of both pools which can help to sustain hybrid specs.

Khajiit is around a similar level of strength, if you would be below the crit damage cap (it regularly happens if not playing sets like orders wrath and not playing in a totally optimized group and not going full medium which could kill your Mag sustain) then khajiit is even stronger than the other 2 races. Especially for a Mag Sorc khajiit is probably (build / group dependent) often slightly ahead. Also it has a tiny bit of sustain and is also good for Stamina (if you dont go over the cap, which is easier on a stam spec because of medium armor).

Breton is definitely worse than the other 3 options (they provide only about 1/3 of the strength via race passives). Even Orcs are stronger (and better if you dont need the sustain) Mag Sorcs than Bretons! The only good thing about bretons is the Sustain, so its far easier to start with them (if not playing stuff like Bahsei). Its good for beginners but if you care about optimization stay away from bretons, they arent good.

If you are in a group with a capable healers which provides some synergies and you are using potions and Mag Recovery Food on a leveled up and geared up character with plenty CPs sustain is absolutely no issues, especially if you use some stamina skills in your rotation. I even sometimes have the problem on a Dark Elf (which gets 0 sustain) that I oversustain in some groups (when playing Bahsei and using Mag Recovery Food).

But I still recommend a High Elf because it has also some sustain which will help in groups with bad healers for example.

Thanks a lot man, High Elf it is. Gotta relearn the game and sure my gear sucks now but there is just no other mmo (genres is struggling) out there i wanna play so back to ESO after long break.
