Healing in PVP worth building a toon?

I have an 1800 CP Templar DPS toon and I'm considering converting him over to heals. For those of you who play heals in PVP do you enjoy it? The reason I haven't done so by now is I rarely see anyone actually playing the role of group heals in PVP.

Anyone care to share a good templar heals PVP build?

there are many solid healing builds depending on how skilled you are at the game. the first category is what we will call tank healers, they are heavy armor with high hp meant to compensate for lack of skill or healing exp.

the second category is what youll see most high end healers playing in, this one will be buff builds. normally set up in full light or medium armor with no defensive traits fully just meant to buff your teams damage.

the first build is noob friendly and easy to play and an example would be something like maras balm heavy on the body earthgore and wretched vitality to help you sustain a bit better until you figure out how to weave heavies in the middle of a fight.

the second type of build will be more like rallying cry with powerful assault or spell power cure, olorime, something of that nature. pre much your just throwing on sets that buff other people while leaving you fully exposed so youll have to learn to survive on a build like this.

the buff build is perferable for most groups as you end up putting out more healing as well as the buffs since your in light or medium and have a bit more spell damage.

id say start with the tank build and then as you get better maybe throw on 1 buff set and ease yourself into being able to run 2 with no sustain issues and being able to survive 4 or 5 people hitting you,

The reason you may not see anyone playing a group healer may depend on the groups you're looking at. Organized groups tend to run multiple dedicated healers with specific buff sets that allow them to boost the damage or sustain of group members. Templars in particular can apply a unique minor sorcery buff to their group by casting a dawn's wrath ability every 20 seconds so there's a demand /need for your services.

Starting out you might try to heal a zone lfg group or low mmr bgs to begin to get a feel for the role in pvp scenarios. Kagrenacs is a nice crafted set for templars to begin with in conjunction with the faster rez cp star for reviving fallen allies in just over a second. Your can wear that in heavy on your body and pair it with a light set like Olorime or Spell power cure to buff your teammates. Add a magma incarnate piece plus mythic , build 100% into recovery and see how you fare with it.

    Best of luck !

What's your discord name? I'll add you in there so we can talk more about it. I don't want to go back and forth on a forum because it'll get muddled with a bunch of other people giving bad advice most likely.

I'm a PvP Healer main for the last three years. I live it and breathe it, and it's all I truly care about.

If you check out my channel on YouTube (Icyfire Gaming) as @gariondavey mentioned, you'll find a ton of content there for build ideas. All the builds are class independent so you can copy paste whatever you want onto any class and still perform at top level. I'd also recommend watching my "How to Build a PvP Healer" video I posted a few months ago, to help you get started on what you need to focus on.

I look forward to the chat!

It's worth playing a healer in PVP. I recommend running one defensive set such as Buffer of Swift, Pariah, Daderea Tricky, etc... and one group utility set such as Kynmarch, Spell Power Cure, Rally Cry, etc... Run a monster set that also buff the group or provide resources back or something that can slow enemies down or debuff them.

If you want to include a mythical set I recommend snow treaders, Torc of Tonal Constancy, or Lefthander's Aegis Belt for a healer.

Hi and thanks! I checked out your channel and am working on tuning my Templar now! Really appreciate all the work you went into to build those videos. I don't have discord but appreciate the offer!
