One of the things which puts me off small scale PvP (in all games) is how repetitive it is running around a little pen killing and being killed by the same people over and over until some arbitrary goal (usually time or kills) is reached.

Anything which adds more variety to that is an improvement IMO. I like Crazy King in particular because you can't just camp the flags since they keep moving around.

And yes, unfortunately most players will treat it like a deathmatch no matter what the rules actually are, but I suspect that's how I managed to get the top score in my last match in spite of not being a frequent PvPer and forgetting to change to the right build.

Crazy King, Domination, and Deathmatch are my favourites. Chaosball and Capture the Relic or okay in small doses but far too frustrating to have more than one game in a row. I don't see the issue with running from node to node. Plenty of combat happens (at least in all the games I've played) and it's fun strategy. To each their own, I guess.

I like them all equally but I don’t like playing the same game type for several games in a row.

BGs has not been enjoyable with the tank meta unless playing a tank myself. Just feels like I'm adding to the problem.

I actually like most modes yes, the one I hate is chaosball.

Well I can turn a Dom, CK, and CB game into a win in the event my team isn't doing so hot at the start with a little luck and strategy. Meanwhile CtR and DM is hopeless if your team isn't doing so hot. DM is impossible to come out on top of if you're in 3rd, and CtR is iffy. The other 3 can easily have whoever is in 3rd come out on top with a little strategy because getting murdered over and over again won't keep you from win.

I like them fine. You kind of need to have a variety of options or else people will spec into a single play style, which we saw for the last event; it got old really fast. Some people will just play it like a death match, but if you have a decent mmr ranking, most people will play the objective because winning the objectives over and over is how they got there to begin with.

I prefer anything but Deathmatch. I groan any time I get Deathmatch. I like having other objectives than just killing.

Although I hardly ever PvP, practically only during PvP events. Crazy king is my favorite actually, other than that I love all the non-deathmatch gamemodes. While the brainless PvPers go around killing everyone, I rack up the flagpoints and easily win the game.

PvP isn't only about bashing heads in, it is also about tactics. Something the three different teams in PvP actually supports, and embraces.

ZoS trialed a Death match only queue, which was first on the list, and then fed that queue from the one for random BG. This caused people to get DM all the time even if you queued for "random" and caused an uproar. The experiment was a fail and then we got what we have now. Although I don't know that the current mode was ideal. It seemed most people would rather a DM only queue, and a second separate non-DM or a random mode that gives an even distribution of all the modes queue.

I like all the Battleground modes. Death Match is probably my least favorite. I prefer overland PvP in cyrodiil as opposed to being in a tiny arena.

I prefer Capture the Relic and Chaosball to either of these, but I like these better than Deathmatch. Of course, I don't pvp very much at all, extremely rarely, so that probably has a lot to do with it.

I love Domination and Crazy King. Gives an objective to the fighting and splits the fighting up if you want to succeed.

"Strangely won't dip a toe in Cyrodiil?" Cyrodiil isn't a good place for killing people because either your skills will not fire, or there's no one on the map. There's many reasons to not want to PvP in Cyrodiil considering performance issues and it's neglect by the developers.

Truth is, I hate every mode that isn't Deathmatch. I especially hate Crazy King and Domination. Both of those modes seem to reward you for running away from other players. Sometimes I just want to log onto the game and kill people. There is nothing in the game for players like me. Cyrodiil is usually unplayable, Imperial City is usually dead, and BGs only rarely give me Deathmatch. I definitely understand why someone would play other modes as Deathmatch.
