Builds for Magicka Orc

I was just curious if anyone have opinions about Magicka orc builds? I know it wouldn’t be as strong as a Breton and/or a High Elf but I’m wondering if using an orc within a Magicka class could work enough for trials?

Just looking for something different.

You really dont build for PVE trials based on race. As a magic damage dealer, you are likely going to put everything into magic whether you play orc or High Elf. The High Elf is going to do more damge than the orc, all else being equal. The better you are, the more you will notice the difference. You can certainly play orc as a magic character, it just wont have as high of a ceiling as a magic race.

If you care about score chasing or wanting to run with groups with DPS requirements, I might look elsewhere. If you just want to do fun runs with laid back groups, go orc. You do you!

Agree with above, I think there's maybe one exception.

In the past, there have been a few builds unique to Orc Necromancers. Because Necromancers get a health bonus, and so do Orcs, people would use food that didn't give Max Health. Food that doesn't give Max Health (Lava Foot Soup and Saltrice) is way better than food that does, especially in the recovery it gives you. You just need to get 16-17k health

There's never been a "meta" magicka DPS race with a health bonus, so this hasn't really been a thing for magicka Necromancers. But if you have that big Orc Necromancer health bonus, you can use Ghastly Eye Bowl (really good Magicka food) if you can get up to 16-17k health

Also I'm pretty sure you could heal on an Orc. I don't think racials matter quite as much for healing

    Edit: typo

I’ve been toying with the idea of making one as I like orcs but i am trying to get past the very minor handicap it causes.

ESO has been made with racial passives and mundas stones having an impact, running an orc mag char with steed mundas and heavy armour really isnt going to make for a high DPS PvE build, you are better off running the meta and changing your characters appearance with skins, outfits and polymorphs

Pretty much any race can heal well. Yeah, some have better magicka and sustain, but most healers are overhealing anyway and you'll heavy attack so much that sustain is rarely an issue.
I've had Orc healers and currently heal on a Nord. Races with extra health make great healers actually, IMO. Have to worry less about yourself.

Tanking is even more forgiving in terms of race choice, iirc. It's really just top DPS that has a narrow race selection, and some flavor builds in PvP.
Alandrol Sul: He's making another Numidium?!?
Vivec: Worse, buddy. They're buying it.

I feel your pain mate Breton my favourite race and stamblade my class I manage to do good enough in pvp can’t speak about pve not really my thing. Hopefully some day zos will give us a way to pick racial skill lines even if it’s through a quest this discussion has been brought up a lot over the years.

Yeah I went ahead and made a necro Magicka orc. Love the look of him and feel but not sure how it’ll turn out.

    Yeah that would be nice.

Just give it a good go mate hope it works out all that matters at the end of the day is your enjoying it. If it doesn’t work out you could save your orc magcro for quests dungeons maybe even pvp and make a high elf or Breton magcro for vet trials etc.

Thread is a couple of years old but still relevant. I'd be interested in the following questions:

Would a mismatched race/class type (e.g. the Orc Magicka Necromancer who started the thread) be able to COMPLETE endgame content, e.g. vet trials, including potentially HM, given good enough gear (and including such stipulations as "not needing to already have Perfected trial gear because that's kind of backwards, the point of doing said vet trials is to get Perfected trial gear from a perspective ofnot already having it")? Would it be able, if pushed hard enough, to COMPLETE in time to get speed-mode or no-death achievements, or even trifectas? (Not necessary to get top of the scoreboard.)

And how viable would such a build be in Arenas, especially veteran Arenas? Be they solo (Maelstrom, Vateshran) or group (Dragonstar, Blackrose)?

The question you should be asking is, how much dps loss on an optimal setup is it to run non meta racials?

For example, if you want to play a stamina build on a breton. I believe by doing that instead of running dark elf, you are losing around 5 to 7% dps total. These numbers may be outdated, but Racials in this game aren't as small as some players say they are. Dark elf racials are worth 3.5ish set bonuses worth of stats for a stamina build.

As for a magicka build using Orc specifically, that's not so bad, because orcs have spell damage. So the only wasted racial would be the 1k stamina. Orc magicka builds aren't that bad. High Elf is meta I believe, so you are basically just missing 2k magicka.
