And yet, ToT is about random.

All solutions are, always, too obvious. You just apply the best solution, that's all. Is always. Only at the very beginning, when I still did not understand all aspects of this game, there were cases when I did not understand how the opponent plays and how he wins. Today I see that there are no tactics and strategies. We just grab the best cards and play the best combination possible. I always guess which card my opponent will take. This is 100% random.

There are many tactics and strategies which vary by deck.

    Pelin gives power.
Ansei gives power and let's you move cards to the top of your deck to be played again.
Crow let's you make multiple draws generating coin and increasing your chance of combos during that turn, plus you can convert coins to power.
Red Eagle let's you remove lesser cards so you are only left with good cards, making good combos possible every turn.

    And the list goes on.

Which cards are or aren't good can be quite situational. Obvious examples include:
    • Crow cards are commonly better if you already have a lot of crow cards.
    • Expensive cards of medium usefulness are commonly better if your game has the Hlaalu patron to sacrifice them to.
    • Agents are commonly better if you have other cards that benefit strongly from comboing with them.
    • The value of agents (especially contract agents) also has lot to do with how easy your game makes it to kick them off the table.

I'm sure you'll get over the disappointment soon.

Unfortunately no. With every match, I only became convinced of the opposite.
See for yourself. If you know all the mechanics, you can definitely determine the best solution at the moment. We simply accumulate the potential and implement it in the best possible way. I'm just... tired of spinning this wheel.
