So much Fun in Cyro (from a PvE player)

For over a solid half hour last night on EU there were at least 60+ players in nearly equal alliance numbers fighting over a keep and it was so much fun!
Yes, it was laggy af, but it was so much fun I didn't care, and it really made it hit home why so may PvP players keep fighting for the fixes...
open world fights on such a scale are just so crazy and must be few an far between in the MMO market, and I really hope a fix is found at some point
for the various problems plaguing this absolute maddness, because it was awesome, but could have been even more awesome!

Yes, ESO is unique in this area, mass PVP, a lot of fun. Imagine if u could use skills as intended :)

I got into PvPing during the last Mayhem event for precisely the reason that once the basics were learned, it was so fun. The keep and other group battles can be great but yeah, especially now it's too laggy. At its best Cyrodiil can feel like a true fantasy war at moments, but the technical side of things keeps it reaching its potential. Let's hope ZoS upgrades the EU servers too, like they did with the US ones!

For a brief period this year, it looked like the lack of hardware in the world was going to be less of an issue. Then... *waves hand* world events happened. Then more is happening/about to happen.I very much doubt we're getting an EU server upgrade this year.

Okay, my two Septims of positivity - I can and I sincerely do appreciate players from opposing alliances who come to towns not to gank others, but to do quest.

A classic is waiting for Barasatii (a delve quest from Vlastarus). 9ufwr0bfaq77.png
Vlas under DC: Me and the AD Altmer were waiting for the crone. Both of us apparently knew that to hunt that Dremora, you need to PAINtiently wait. And s/he had c. 1900 CP - me? Lvl 32? So when she did finally appear, we were trying not to hurt one another.

Another example - Bruma under EP. An AD Khajiit NB came. S/he was also there for the quests, and because s/he had invisibility it was rather easy to avoid the guards. There was one rather hillarious moment (for me) that as s/he was leaving the building where you kill the Magister, s/he was strolling, just walking as if s/he owned the place :D:D:D

A note to others - some of our toons have AoE skills. If you see that a player in Cyro is not willing to attack, and neither are you, be mindful of your AoEs.

Yeah, as a PvEer I had some genuine fun. And Cyro is one of the reasons why I switched from WoW to ESO.

Last PVP event, I just got the basic Bruma quest done for my tickets and got out. If Bruma was under siege or I couldn't get to it quickly, I'd come back later - or miss a day.

This time around, I got involved. Joined groups, sieged, escorted scrolls, completed the kill 40 enemies quest, even helped kill an emperor!

I'm now working on a Cyrodiil build. Soooo you win this time, Zos... This time!

Mass PvP like Cyrodil is not unique to ESO, there is World vs World in Guild Wars 2, Planetside 2, DAoC is still going which is the game that came up with this sort of PvP 20 years ago, etc.

Me too. I've been in Cyro quite a few times to PvE and have only ever been ganked once (someone came out of stealth in a town while I was turning in a quest and was clearly there just to do that, because they were still there doing it when I stealthed back to check). I just laughed it off, though I have to admit I don't understand why someone would choose to spend their game time ganking other players. Just don't understand that mentality. I always wonder if they're simply not good enough to beat anyone in a fair fight.

Otherwise, I've never run into a problem in Cyrodiil. I've been killed a couple of other times but those were totally fair kills - no coming out of stealth or anything. I was killed fair and square.

99.9% of those in Cryo are honourable players there to have fun.

(I haven't taken part in PvP in Cyrodiil yet except briefly with guildies.)

    Greetings,

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic.

    Thank you for your understanding

Couldn’t agree more, I had my guild run a guild war, it was indeed a tonne of fun.
Last night there was an AP train running in NA (Xbox) that we were running in (yellows and blues), sadly us yellows were starting to Zerg a wee bit too hard…. So we wound up with having to deal with a team of 10 blues who were literally instagibbing players who were waiting for the keep to flip/ slowing down…… then someone went and repaired the keep…….

It's so much fun seeing more people give pvp a try. After I tried, I never went back to pve. Unless I really need something.

Cyrodiil is a blast sadly a lot of PVE players that come in are not willing to give it a fair shot before writing it off completely

They get ganked a few times an get angry then say this is stupid but if getting ganked in a town when they could put in zone chat they need help and groups like mine will show up and clear the gankers

When PVE players come in during MYM I like to help them out so maybe we will add anther player into Cyro

Anther thing I see when a player says bad things about cyro it’s because they have tried to go about it solo when if they were to throw out an LFG in chat most times they would get picked up into a group and be able to have a fun experience 😁

Good to see good news about Cyrodiil! Since I've popped back into the game I was seeing a lot of negativity about it. Glad to see it's not as black and white as I thought. I may even pop in for a battle or two, it's been a while since I've done large scale pvp

No one is saying there aren't multiple interpretations of the lore, and we're not arguing that ESO did it "wrong".

We're arguing that they decided to go for the most boring, mundane, seen-before interpretation possible. Like they almost always do, unless they can ride on the coat-tails of past games.
