Against npc it does not matter. It is only you who get the warning.
I have never seen this message. maybe it only appears in the lower levels? I beat a lot of opponents with Patron victories and I have lost a few. Depending on the deckschosen its not that hard to do. But I have never seen the warning...

People need to be trained to look for a potential patron victory and it rarely happens against NPCs (in my experience). I think I've had about 4-5 matches throughout the entire storyline and thereafter where an NPC actually went for a patron victory.
So I would suggest a middle ground here: Allow for an option to turn it off, but leave it on by default. Or perhaps disable it while you're in Rubidite rank. If you're not alert for them at that level, you're doing something wrong anyway.

But either way, if your patron win depends on your opponent not to be paying attention, and you to only play a single patron that turn... that's not really a strategy, it's just wishful thinking, or exploitation of newbies.
If you're aiming for a patron win, you usually need to be hitting at least the last two patrons in the same turn. So, you need to have invested in at least one Currency Exchange and have enough other Hlaalu to make a combo with it, or else need to have grabbed a "Tithe" or "King Orgnum's Command" card. A decent player will have spotted you picking up the Currency Exchange, too, so if they let you get within two patrons of the win, that's a gamble they chose to make.
