What's with the Mines nerf?

Mines should be AoE but that's not the point of this thread.

Daedric Mines v8.1.0
Fixed an issue where this ability and its morphs could detonate instantly on a target multiple times.
How is this an issue exactly? If an enemy player moves between 2 mines then they should both detonate instantly. If an enemy player dodge rolls through 5 mines, they should take 5 mines worth of damage instantly.

There is now a short cool down window where a target cannot be targeted again from the mines to prevent moments of immense instantaneous burst.
"Immense instantaneous burst" is the only reason to use mines. It slows down enemy pressure by placing blockers on pathways and has a great effect on positioning. Additionally, mines were a good counter to Stamblades. Now they're not.

This also means your mines will no longer detonate without dealing any damage to a target, vastly improving the viability of this ability
You're nerfing mines and trying to convince players this is good by mentioning this bug fix. These are two entirely separate changes. One is a bug fix, the other is a nerf.

The bug fix should make it to Live, the unwarranted nerf shouldn't.

    Yeah the change is equally terrible in PvE where tomb is a niche but powerful and balanced spammable.

    The pros are it hits very hard and has a root that's sometimes nice in trash or add heavy fights. The drawbacks are it's way too expensive to be used as a spammable outside of very short fights without heavy attacks or building for sustain. It also requires the target to be completely still to hit two mines. In other words it's powerful yet balanced.

    Now it's effectively a very small and extremely expensive ground dot that's terrible in any fight where the boss actually moves.

    The only reason I can think of for this change is that someone that's high enough in the power structure to make the call plays a tower hamper and doesn't like that there is a hard counter to snow treaders and other sources of root/snare immunity.
    There is nothing as satisfying as placing mines in just the right spot so someone using that immunity and LOS to stay alive with 10 people chasing them for 20 minutes, running in circles and up and down stairs in a resource tower, tries to run past me on the stairs and blows themselves up by triggering all five at the same time.
    It really sucks because this isn't going to get enough attention for them to walk it back, mines will be a completely dead skill after the patch hits.

    It’s clear they took an enormous amount of developer time to release U35 by going through every single ability. Problem is...... their vision for combat in ESO is horrible. Their changes run contrary to both their stated goals and the wants/needs of the actual playerbase :neutral:

    It’s a change for the sake of change. Not much more to it.

    Yeah, this is one of the skill changes where dev comment looks straight up ridiculous. Why nerf something that isn't much popular to begin with, and doesn't get any negative attention from players? What's wrong with you?

    Stupid change sorc is already bottom tier, now they need to protect bad players who can't help eating mines like a hungry hungry hippo. Now if you want to go into all 5 mines at once you don't have to worry only one will hit you. Don't have to risk dying, as dying to a sorcerer these days would be unacceptable.

    It puts you straight at the center, where you have no mines. Roll will make your eat exactly one mine. Idk how you would be eating more than one, except maybe really neat corner mine position.

    Anyway, never seen this combo after they removed second wave from dc.

    I mean some of the things were like ok ok, Everyone's Dots are getting hit, that falls in line with the Hots. Then the other things were just left field changes and I think they picked the wrong time to do it. People are much more open to changes when you aren't nerfing their general damage kit by 30%.

    Groups focused on debuffing you with nocturnals ploy shouldn't have to worry about watching where they are going. They should also increase eternal hunt mine to take 5 seconds to arm for balance. Mages fire rune, why not buff its featured desynch by 10 seconds so it's more fatal than tripping over five things you can actually see.

    There's a meme build that stacks mines and other ground AoEs into a corner and pulls players into it with Silver Leash + Rush of Agony, popping all the mines and doing enough burst to one-shot. Possible that's what they're targeting.

    Can someone in PTS tell me how long the same target cool down once the 1st mine triggered ?

    I look the issue in PVE POV , I can't believe ZOS going to nerf mines lol .

    Be fair , if they going to do this , please also apply the cool down timer to all ground AOE skills in game against same target .

    As a stamblade, If i see mines, ill just roll through it now since I know only one will explode and it's safe to go through it. Poor sorcs always getting nerfed these days.
