I had the same issue, but it was on a character I had just started with ToT, the first daily quest, and the quest marker is over the novice opponent... abandoned and restarted it twice, then I went to bed (I thought it was a sign...)
Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most...
NPC Daily Quest win a round even if i win the quest marker douse not go away? It seem stuck anyone have this happen?
I had this issue for a while. When High Isle first launched, the NPC's didn't have the different ranks associated with them so I kept battling all of them and, eventually, one of them would complete the quest. There was one day where it didn't and only one person was available to challenge. That was annoying.
So, as it stands right now (I assume it is a broken state), you must play the highest proficiency ToT NPC at the location your daily ToT quest sends you to. If you do not do this, no matter how many times you win the games, you will not complete the daily ToT quest objective.
In addition to that, there is one location I know of that is unplayable if you have unlocked expert ToT NPCs - Western Skyrim (Solitude, in the inn). There are 2 proficient NPCs and one is sitting in the centre of the table - horizontally and vertically.
I would really like to enjoy this game, but there are far too many issues for it to be enjoyable. Playing it to Master rank was only a means to an end (to get the furnishings and a houseguest).
