Thinking of starting a twitch channel for ToT

So let me preface.... I don't like ToT:
  • It's so boring to play.
  • It's too slow.
  • It's overly complex.
  • It's boring. Did I say that?
  • I keep losing.

But hey, the rewards are stellar the moment....so I want to play this not very fun game and maybe win here and there.

So I've watched some Youtubes and such. Not great. Not Helpful.

I have played and lost 9/10 games....starting to feel I am getting it....but I m still losing 9/10 games. This is pretty well equal footing play, so I think I am missing something BIG.

Does anyone have a big realisation to share? If not, I think I am going to have to livestream my failures and have people tell me why.

Livestreaming how not to use a feature played only by the fractions of the playerbase who
    A) purchased high isle
    B) actually play ToT

I wish you the best of luck.

Well I figured it as a potential training video [snip]

Did you not purchase HI? I find it otherwise a fantastic expansion.

I would watch video guides. I have high isle (for companions and new lore), but I haven't done any ToT yet (I tried it on the pts, and it's not fun for me).

When new rewards get added I will watch some videos telling me the most efficient way to grind for those incentives, but maybe I'm not the target audience.

Learn which cards are 'combo cards' and which are 'standalone cards'

Standalone: A card where most of the power comes just from playing it. Rally (St Pelin) costs 7 and grants 6 power just for playing it. While the combo 2: draw 1 card is a lovely ability, you dont buy Rally and worry about it, it's like a cherry on top to get it.

Combo: a card where most of the power is hidden behind combo 2, 3 or 4. Scratch (Duke of Crows) costs 3 and grants 1 coin when you play it. But combo 2 and suddenly it's +2 coins (3 total) +2 power. If you take this card, you NEED another Duke of Crows card when you play it.

While viewing cards like this... consider the match as the following when you're deciding which cards to buy:

    1) Will it boost my strategy? Your goal is to get prestige and win. How you do that can be done in many ways depending on what cards you can purchase. If you've taken 5 Duke of Crow Cards... buying yet another Duke of Crow card is normally the right choice.
    2) Will it hurt my opponent's strategy? I've said above Scratch is an awesome combo card. So if your opponent has taken 5 Duke of Crow Cards, letting them take Scratch when you could... is a 3 coin 2 power card almost every time... that's bad!
    3) Do I need coins? Cards can go up to 10 to purchase... but do you need them to win? It's the 6 and 7 ones that r(e)ally matter *snicker*. A 5 card hand can be 5 coins, so 5 or less are easy to afford... but think to yourself 'how can i reliably buy the 6s and 7s' and use that to decide if you need more coin cards (a coin card, btw, is one which nets you 2 or more coins. The Armory (St Pelin) is worth 5 power and 1 coin and, while an AWESOME card, is not a coin card.)
    4) When is the right time to Patron Power? This is a lot more complicated, but try to buy Writs of Coin as often as possible. Sometimes there's a sexy cost 5 card you just gotta take... but often the 2 and 3 cost cards early on have 2 or 3 coins attached. Buying 1 of those AND a writ of coin means in a couple of turns, you could have 8 coins instead of 5!!!!!

If it's boring to you, then you're better off never bothering to do it. I mean, if it's actually not fun forget the rewards, you'll get more out of farming furnishing plans. But if it's only 'not fun because you keep losing' then understand this card game is like every other deckbuilder out there - from Legendary to Star Realms to Yu-gi-Oh. Maximise your resources per turn, spend them on the best option, and outflank your opponent. (just like the original game... Jackal and Hounds!)

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic.
