The download is always out before the end of things, remember they run tests on the servers and other background things also during this type of down time, its just for patch stuff our side The stuff they do their side we wouldn't get to see or change up our patching, unless they needed to hot fix something that was found during stability testing their side

    Sorry for errors and typos

For me the launcher crashed around 19 - 20% (not responding). After a while it did respond, but stopped all the activities (not progressing further). After 3 times I tried to use a "repair" function, but similarly it stopped at around 20%. Almost as if the game could not "read" its own files.

I ended up uninstalling the whole game & now I am re-downloading it.

What is odd is that on my laptop it seems that the game actually is "applying patch" - but it is not like 4 - 6 gigs like it was on my desktop, but rather 69 gigs - like the whole game is being "scanned" and patched.

Edit: after re-installing the game, it then downloaded the patch normally & it works.

Idk what was it all about.

Wrong spot earlier, but error was because I had ESO open. It causes the download to fail and have to redownload it

Yes, I also get that message about permissions and always have to repair the game. Then the repair crawls along in spite of my gigabit fiber connection.

This has happened for the last few patches so now I plan for the fail. I'm on Mac btw.

It seemed to go faster after 20 something. It tells you the speed it's downloading on launcher

No worries, I just minimise the launcher and let it go on its merry way. Watching The Rings of Power on Amazon atm. LOL it's not released yet.
