Healthy Offering & Lady Thorn

With the change to Healthy Offering costing both mag and health, it no longer procs Lady Thorn, since the "cost" is now listed as only mag. This is quite disappointing as that seemed like a pretty nice pairing and gave more options to proc it.

It's not perfect but do ravage health potions work?

Interesting thought, but I doubt it as I think it lists "ability that costs health." I can only think of Altar, Equilibrium, and Blood for Blood. I might try Equilibrium, since that's pretty commonly used for tank sustain, but was really hoping for some "out of the box" uniqueness and a big heal is more useful on that tank than mag sustain.

Potions will not work. It has to be an ability. I use Blood Altar to proc it on my tank. Its a great source of Major Maim for non-necros. If I were using it in PVP or as a non-tank, I'd stick with Sanguine Altar as its cheaper

Yes. I got a bit excited for a nb pvp debuffer, but found out now when testing it do not work :/ Dissapointing, since the skill do cost health and should fill the requirement for the proc. Seem like I will have to use blood altar if I want to use this set? wonder if it is worth it.

i think in technical terms the skill does not cost health, it costs mag and then applies a DoT to self (in essence costing health, but in technical terms it is not "cost" of health like the mentioned skills)

i think because the dmg is still self applied it wont proc other things that trigger on taking dmg, but because its a DoT on self applied as part of the skill effect, its not counted as "costing" health either

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

This is it exactly. It's still an unfortunate change. Particularly since they have a monster set that procs off so few abilities, it pigeon-holes a lot of builds that would use it. Healthy Offering (and other morph) would've allowed for broader options and give some class flair. Just like it would be great if Lotus Fan was a direct damage aoe component to take advantage of Tormentor (like the Templar charge already does). Or their fear to have some additional effect (maybe a lingering re-apply like necro totems) so it isn't totally eclipsed by Turn Evil. I'm sure other classes have their own cases that could broaden niche effects in builds, but I'm more familiar with nightblades.

I feel this skill is pretty useless .

You will see Malevolent Offering and Grim Focus change every big patch , because ZOS don't know what to do with these skills , actually they are not modify this skills from NB POV but other classes feedback lol .

I don't slot Malevolent Offering with my NB tank , not attractive even pure health cost , ZOS if you wanna provide something functional for NB tank , you should change this skill to smart healing to the lowest health target and scale any highest stats , I may slot it with my healer atm , maybe :)

Offering is a smart heal. It's also the strongest single target heal in the game, I believe (albeit, not a huge margin, if I recall). Since the recent change to be able to target self, I've been using it on my healer (because what was the point of an "Oh crap" heal if you can't save yourself?). I'm still not sure I like the cost change overall. Not just for the non-intraction with Lady Thorn, but also because the risk was always manageable, especially for a healer, and it was a huge sustain buff as well as providing some unique class gameplay.

Pour out your lifesblood and channel the arcane, healing yourself or an ally in front of you for [4647 / 4698 / 4748 / 4801] Health, while draining 1080 Health from yourself over 3 seconds. After casting, gain Minor Mending for 8 seconds, increasing your healing done by 8%.

NB healer really hard to make decision pick Offering or not , but I won't pick it , personal tho .
You're right , different healer different playstyle :)

Well, yeah, it does have to be in front of you, but so do many other major heals, like the bread and butter Combat Prayer. Just like Templar's Rushed Ceremony, which is its closest comparison.

With the cost change, it's barely 1k magicka cheaper and the Honor the Dead morph gives a significant amount back (conditionally). So vs HtD, Offering gives a marginally stronger heal (is 1-5k a big deal when you're already bringing most targets to full with an 18-20k burst?) at a potentially higher mag cost, along with a token health cost (it's barely noticeable now, unstacked). It does grant Mending, but arguably is a bad place for that, since you're wasting a TON of over-healing (and now, magicka) if you keep that active. That's my only gripe--it had its class identity removed and homogenized with a different class' ability and got the shorter end of the stick--an often unnecessary overheal at a net higher cost to both mag and health. Well, that and it won't proc Lady Thorn anymore. Two gripes... 😁

However, now that I'm griping and highlighted the problem with Mending on Offering, that should be moved to Funnel Health (not Swallow Soul, as great as that would be). Funnel is too weak as a damage spell (as it should be for a heal), but the heals are too mediocre and random vs other options to take a place on the bar--it's basically Regen that only hits 2 people and ticks less frequently. Adding Mending to it would give it a reason to keep it in the rotation.

    Try using Blood Altar instead.
