It should have just been stated as an all day thing. Having done smaller hardware replacements in my own job, there's no way 6 hours is enough time for a server this large. Perhaps if everything was configured in advance and the only thing left was a data transfer and cable swaps then MAYBE but that still requires everything else to be perfect. Complications do happen, quite frequently. Since PC-NA is the first group to be swapped there's just a plain expectation that there would be issues, and they will likely last a few days even once it is booted up.

Should have done EU first. :)

In most professional enterprises, there's a thing called "redundancy". Manufacturing, Finance ... you name it.
it's a second set up where you do your "practicing".
You simply do not go "live" with an untested upgrade or installation. It's, like, one of the big no-no's.
Of course, when it costs a supplier upwards of $50K an hour if you shut down an assembly line at Ford because your EDI system is kaput ... you get the picture.
But I'm sorry, I used the word "serious" and this company is only "serious" when they're taking your money.

    From Matt Firor's information......

"It’s worth noting we installed and transitioned all the hardware for the PTS a few weeks ago, before the U34 PTS update, and we’re happy to report it has been working very smoothly. This was our major test case to ensure that everything would work as expected."

So it appears they did do at least one test! :)
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!

I wonder if the PTS estimated schedule was 4 hours longer than the first estimate they gave the live PC/NA job, before the 4 hour extension was added in the last 10 minutes...
    I'm just curious.
    o:)

The problem with society these days is that no one drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.

Update 33 so it's expected things don't go right. It's a cursed patch.

wait, people are complaining that they're taking time to replace game hardware?

God, imagine if they actually brought the game down for performance maintenance that everyone is wishing for, there'd be a riot

It's actually not supposed to improve performance according to article...which leaves so many questions
