Hybridization: should abilities scale from a sum of resources?

To cast an ability player needs either stamina or magicka (depends on ability), but ability effect is increased by the highest resource. Moreover, break free, roll dodge, bash, blocking cost stamina, while blocking with ice staff requires magicka. But to maximize effect, currently stacking only one resource is preferable. To make characters more hybrid, why not scale ability effect from the sum of resources?

    Just eliminate "Stamina" and "Magicka" and call it "Resources".

    Homogenization Hybridization will be much easier, after that.

    Yes
    Eliminating stam and mag would require rewriting entire combat and equipment system. Changing damage formula would require 1 minute of editing damage formula.

    Why should I be putting points into Stamina and Magicka in a game where there is no line between them? If the game does not merge them together and uses the highest of the two, then all point go into one. If the game combines them, then it is irrelevant and confusing. The latter is the future, the former is the past, so just merge them into one stat and be done with it. No math, no confusion.

    You'd need to redo a fair amount of things to make it work.

    For example consider Glyph of Prismatic Defense.

    If you use it as a DPS right now, you are trading a bit of damage for more survivability.

    if you used it in a system where the stats are combined it'd be giving you the same dps and more survivability.

    Prismatic defense costs around 60k currently, if my proposal was accepted its price would go up several times. Regular stam/mag costs almost nothing.

    They should probly not make it resource scaling for that would just make a meta wich push magicka builds i think they should sort out or change weapon and spell dmg either vy merging or make weapon dmg affect weapons and weapon skills spell effect class guild alliance skills

    Yeah, but this is just making it feel like two different games. One game, the attribute split does not matter, but then they make you split. They need to just give up and make one attribute rather than trying to make them matter in one part, but not in another. Sheesh.
