Do you guys have any sets/builds you were just to mess around in? Wether it be roleplaying build or a toon that was inspired from something you like.
My fun toon is a mag dark elf vamp, I run Unfathomable Darkness with BSW with the Swarming bat ultimate. The Bats and the crows with the burning wall active looks dope af.
Im curious to see what other people have come up with to derp around in.

A fun stam DD/Tank build for normal dungeons: Syvarra's Scales, Thunderbug, and Stormfist. It basically pumps out passive AOEs when you deal or take damage. Its great for mob heavy fights.

Unfortunately, the passive damage falls off in Vet dungeons, but its fantastic for carrying PUGs through normal dungeons without working too hard or doing decent damage if you can't manage a great rotation.

Stormfist is nice when it throws everything in the air lol. A shame I dont see many use it.

I have a lich themed magicka necromancer. It uses shroud of the lich, caluurion's legacy and nerien'eth. Looks really cool and does enough damage to complete most content in the game.

Heh, I also gave my necro only necro themed sets :) but I use Draugrkin, Caluurion and Kjalnar

I also love Coward's on my Bosmer Warden. Tiny fast boi :D

Honestly, the sets that are the most fun to me are proc sets with added effects like aegis caller or selenes.

I think right now the most fun set to me is overwhelming surge because it just adds so much sustain in aoe situations so I can just spam my skills. I use it on my solo magplar and just faceroll dungeons.

Haha nice. I couldn't do a lich themed build though without the lich staff and lich robe and gloves which looks so badass. Would love to have the real lich hat and shoulders as well for the looks.

I once tried pairing Morihaus (knock things down when you roll dodge through them) with Eternal Hunt (leave poison on the ground when you roll dodge) for a rolly-trolly setup. Sadly it didn't work very well because the poison on the ground never lined up with where the enemies were when I knocked them down.

Tormentor + explosive charge on Templar tank for an AoE taunt ftw! And next patch that set will also allow tanking with a werewolf!

I have a DW/2H stamCro that uses Blooddrinker, Dro'Zakar, and vMA 2H Axe. Hardly top-tier but it gets by and the whole idea is to make the best use of some unloved sets.

Come the patch, I look forward to getting a new bleed from vMA Axe (to slightly buff Dro'Zakar) and switching Blooddrinker to Dragon's Appetite. I also want to experiment with dropping a monster hat to use the Blackrose DW front-bar.

    Stam Sorc.

5x Aegis Caller DW Front bar.
    5x Relequen Body
    2x Stormfist
2x VMA Bow back bar or 2x BRP DW back bar

All wind/storm based effects. Added benefit of being pretty competitive for dps, just swap regen food for bi-stat food since Aegis/Stormfist give 2x 129 stam regen.

In dps tests during Harrowstorm PTS, Aegis Caller was only about 5% less single target dps than Lokke without balancing food choices.

No idea behind it, I was just being silly and listing sets that are boring or seriously need an update. For an actual answer, though, I have a build I created just recently that uses:

    5 Embershield
    5 Overwhelming Surge
    2 Iceheart

All three sets surround you in three different types of elemental damage. I put them on a Necromancer and I named the build Skelementalist. The sets are fun and the synergy they have with some of the Necromancer skills is great:
    • Necromancer skill Beckoning Armor gives me Major Resolve and pulls enemies into the elemental AOE damage that surrounds me.
    • Necromancer skill Resistant Flesh heals me and gives me resistances, which strengthen my damage shields (like Iceheart).
    • Embershield Lightning Staff gives me AOE damage heavy attacks and procs the set, which gives me fire AOE and ups my defenses -- even further strengthening my damage shields.
    • Necromancer skill Skeletal Arcanist does AOE damage and boosts my recovery.
    • Necromancer skill Unnerving Boneyard gives me Major Breach and procs Overwhelming Surge.
    • Overwhelming Surge gives me AOE lightning damage and even more magicka sustain.
    • My Necromancer is a High Elf, so channeling my heavy attacks will result in 5% less damage taken (from one of their racial passives).

This can easily be run as a one-bar heavy attack AOE build. I'll be using it for VMA runs just for fun when I return to that slog in the next update.

Thunderbug has always been my favorite.

So many cool and fun combinations!

Auroran Thunder was my all-time favorite set. But it's a great disappointment now. It was better when it lasted 3 secs, ticked every 0.5 secs and proc'd every 6 seconds. Sad to see such a unique and fun set collecting dust in my chests.

I'm hesitant to answer this one considering the history of ZOS nerfing fun out of the box builds when they work well. Once a niche build like that goes mainstream the hammer drops.

I discovered an elemental catalyst mini game for my stamina warden to pursue, trying to hit as many targets as possible with winters revenge, lightning wall of elements and fire rune and get as many weakness to elements stacked as possible.

It’s still technically a stamina build since the cliff racer is used for bleeds along with the poison based subterranean assault, caltrops, barbed trap. It takes a lot of stamina

Next I swapped the front bar from kinras dual wield to a charged ice staff to add the minor brittle debuff to a lot of things since nobody else was doing it in my trial group

Now I’m about to swap my second set into Alkosh, complete with a front bar charged ice staff, since nobody else is doing it and a lot of stamina players are popping up. And maybe I’ll keep a morag tong ice staff on hand in the future when enough poison and disease shows up in a raid

And the fun part is this build is still doing plenty of dps while making everyone else in the group do 10-20% more damage

i still use this on my mag dk (yes a mag dk with auroran lol)

overall it still feels the same is about the same, the dmg per tick went up a lot (just less total ticks), and duration/cooldown/uptime is still effectively the same so it doesnt really feel that different to me

There are some sets I'd like to use but have drawbacks. Unfathomable Darkness I just cannot get past all the cawing of the crows... it drives me insane!! I wish we could turn off the sounds these sets make- especially when they make sounds ALL THE TIME. Thunderbug, as someone mentioned above, ONLY comes in Heavy.

I'm about to invest into Morkuldin because since the 'chance' has been replaced with a guaranteed proc every 15/s... it could be a fun set to use.

Once upon a time, many patch notes ago I used to have a StamDK, 1H&S DPS, wearing Morag Tong, Viper's Sting, and Tremorscale. 70%ish Crit chance with great burst potential. I LOVED that build.

Then ZOS added a 1sec cast time to Tremor and made proc sets unable to Crit. A single update destroyed it.
