Scouting Missions Exploit

Shinoe
Shinoe
This is really a note/concern/question to the developers.

I've seen that people have begun repeatedly doing scouting missions just to earn fast AP. This works best when your faction owns most of the forts across Cyrodiil. This allows you to warp back and forth between the mission board and the "scouted" fort. This is being done to rush your way to #1 in points to become emperor.

Is this tactic not exploitative?

I would make the following potential suggestions.

1) Make the scouting quest only send you to enemy owned forts a the time the quest is picked up.
2) Make the scouting quest a daily like the 20 kill quest.

Thoughts?

we need more xp in PVP not less, the issue is with ppl wanting emperor and the system for it being easily exploitable, they need to make all quest AP daily and raise the XP and gold they give when repeated.

How is it an exploit? If you faction is owning most of the map, quick travel is one of the benefits. The scout missions give jack for gold/ap anyway, way to slow to run them over and over, even with the quick travel.

Sigh... This is the logic ESO Devs will have to fight against. Why it's an exploit?... Tell me, you are rewarded with PvP currency but... Were are you seeing PvP activity when scouting FRIENDLY keeps?

It's very simple... Players like this just want to reach 50 ASAP and then starting PvP... The same players that were exploiting the "kill 20"... that also want "progress" in PvP but... Hell No! PvPing is too slow... Lets just click on this NPCs and get "progress".

    Returning to the problem:

    - Scout Quest ONLY for Enemy Locations.

    - Patrol Quests ONLY for Friendly Locations that report nearby enemy activity (They must include a timer for completion, around 5 minutes, so the player is rewarded for keeping an eye on enemy activity. Optional bonus reward for killing X ammount of players around the patrolled location)

    - Adjust rewards based on time needed to complete.

So in short... The problem is not how much you are rewarded by a given quest... It's what you have to do to get it. The other problem is seeing how ESO Devs were naive enough to believe that all PvPers that want "progress" want to do it by PvPing... I hope they are learning fast that what some PvPers claim publicly is not what they really want.

Well I have only been able to do one scout mission today so it looks like this is not a problem. Not sure if it is an error or they have made it daily also.

I don't believe the Kill 20 Players (or the scouting mission) is what has been (and is being) used to exploitativly gain AP in campaigns. The AP reward for the scouting mission is relatively low and just yesterday we had new players appear on the Wabbajack leadership board topping over 300k AP. Neither of these were in the top 10 previously which means they gained over 200k in a single day (12 hours) and Wabbajack was not in full Dominion control to allow the scouting mission to be exploited in the fashion you describe.

The biggest exploit is flat out kill farming. One group of 50 players with half their toons in one faction and the other in another faction can setup a kill farm near one of the factions forts, preferably one that the killing faction is unlikely to take any time soon. The killing faction sets up in a defensible position and the suicide faction just runs to them (naked nord style?). Die, rez in the near by fort, rinse and repeat.

    lol you serious?
It takes about 10-70 min alone to get to the places your sent to. And that's on a horse, feel bad for people that have to walk..
And It's 250 AP... If you would PvP for same amount of time. You would gain way more as It is 12 AP per kill. = get 20 kills And ur already above that Scouting guy who barely made It to the place and Is now on his way back.

This is 100% an exploit. The quest gets borked when you capture everything and will have your destination be the last thing your alliance has captured. I cannot believe that this made it into the release version but it has since been patched (I think) but the fact is that the quest has no destinations other than keeps/resources... If the quest could target something that cannot be captured, say the "Gates" that guard the scroll temples, this quest would not be an exploit.

Again, I'm 99% sure that this was patched, so no need to argue about this any more.

THIS IS NOT A EXPLOIT, anyway if your factions owns all the keeps you can't get anymore scouting quests so....? what are you on about

Can we get a answer on this from someone that matters. We had a problem with this yesterday. We owned the whole map all but 4 resources around keeps we could teleport to. The Emporer of our campian said this is a exploit and took it on himself to cap the 4 resourse and leave us with no scout missions to repeat.

My campaigns Emperor purposefully had it so one resource was left in enemy hands and, in fact, that's how he was re-crowned Emperor!

Get quest, transit to our keep, walk 100 feet to enemy resource, scout, suicide by attacking enemy guardians, respawn at scouting board area, get quest, transit to our keep,...

On and on, almost ALL day.
