Question about bahsei

Hi!

I am pretty *** at playing these little mini games of siroria and bahsei while in content. In many trials I think I am not utilizing perfected bahsei properly about 30% of the time. So the question is, what is a good set to pair with pillar of nirn that might work better for me?

I am a mag dk and my money is on everyo e saying Kinra Tzogvin or AY but I wonder if there is anything else.

i think AY specifically requires melee dmg so that might be harder on a mag dk unless your running dual wield front bar

either of the other 2 sets you mention would work though
    plays PC/NA
    handle @Necrotech_Master
    active player since april 2014

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

BSW still a decent set on MagDK since Most of your damage is fire damage. You could also run Zen’s either body or front bar and still put up solid numbers. Mothers sorrow is never a bad option either. Because PON is a medium set you will definitely want to front bar that.

To get the most out of Zen’s run double charged daggers, poison enchant main and flame enchant off. You are in melee range for most of your core combat skills anyway so go ahead and run the daggers. Pair it with mothers sorrow on the body and any decent rotation can hit 85+ on the dummy and perform very well in content. You will never have to manage resources with this kind of setup. If you do go Zen’s body and PON front, set the daggers up the same way. That will get you guaranteed 2% boost with your engulfing and burning embers getting you another 2. Throw in degeneration/entropy and you’ve met the maximum procs you can get with Zen’s.

KInras in a trial group if you can keep the stacks up, for the group damage. Tzvogins is good, but you'd probably be better off with Medusa, especially as the group buffs will up your penetration.

Although, why not go with Blooddrinker?
2 items: Adds 657 Critical Chance
3 items: Adds 129 Weapon Damage and Spell Damage
4 items: Adds 657 Critical Chance
5 items: Increases your Bleed damaging attacks by 20%.

Seems like a good fit with Nirn.

I believe Kinras is the next best thing, but I wouldn't recommend it over Bahsei. The thing about Perfected Bahsei is that you don't have to be good at the resource minigame for it to be strong. Comparing Perf Bahsei and Kinra's both have 2X 129 Weap/Spell Dmg and 657 Crit Chance, so all is equal. Then you have Minor Slayer on Bahsei, which is 5% damage vs Kinra's 5pc bonus which gives 0% damage for the first 5s then jumps up to 10% damage with good light attack weaving. Effectively for the first 10s of any fight Bahsei beats Kinra with no effort, and even if you are at 100% magicka and not using the 5pc bonus of Bahsei. In reality resources will start to drop a little, and in a very long fight you only need to average 66% Magicka for Bahsei to pull ahead of Kinra's (with perfect uptime on the Major Berserk).

Advancing Yokeda and Tzogvins are decent sets, but I haven't found them to be stronger than Kinra's, so all of the above applies even more. You can wear Perfected Bahsei, completely ignore the sustain mechanic, and still perform the same or better than other sets.

If you really still want an alternative then I would recommend Perfected False Gods. Technically it gives slightly more DPS than Perf Bahsei if you are at full resources, since a line of crit is better than a line of Weapon/Spell Damage, and it will also ensure you never run low on resources with the cost reduction and bursts of magicka on kills. That being said, pFGD does not beat AY, Kinra, or Tzogvin's for sustained damage, but with the Minor Slayer it is not far behind, and requires no stack-maintaining minigame.

Blooddrinker you want to stack more bleeds, it works well on Stamden with growing swarm, rending slashes, stampede+maelstrom, carve (though the stack is changing), barbed trap and stacking your birds(7x max) while off balance plus your PON.

Yes all that gets 20% buff when using with wardens.

Run 4 pieces of False God, Wading Kilt (or Death Dealer's Fete) and a monster set like Stormfist. You don't need 5 pieces of a trial set :).

Pro Tip: DON'T play the mini game. Both sets will still pull more damage than likely your next best option. Too many people get caught up in the minigames to their own detriment.

If you follow the rule of stand still when you can and move when you have to, siroria is still a great set for damage on almost every fight in the game, but that is good advice across the board. This isnt a shooter, dont dance and DPS. It doesnt help.

If you simply wear bahsei and ignore your magic, its still a pretty darn good set (probably still the best set for mag DPS). Maybe dont burst as many orbs and use your class sustain tools a little less. I dont believe you need to be at the bleeding edge of running out of magic to make this set work well. Sure you can do things like dump a little mag if you are opening a big fight, but I certainly do go out of my way to be out of magic. Most rotations do that on their own for the most part. For example, on my mageblade, I dont cast Siphoning in my prebuff rotation, and usually dont cast until I am at less than 50% magic. If I know I have time to prep the fight, I might cast shades 2-3 times when buffing up.

If you want to use Pillar of Nirn, you really dont want to pair with another medium armor set on a magic DPS, and likely you want a trial set for the minor slayer. False God is a great utility set, but even if you completely ignore the minigames, FG still wont be ahead of the others in terms of raw damage. Its unrealistic think you will always be at 100% mag (bahsei) or never build any stacks (siroria).
