Need help with checking the game, ticket closed without answer?

Hello,

I just submitted a ticket asking if someone could confirm that my game client is correctly updated and I followed the steps in this article: https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/37687 to get a Game Consultant file. I assumed the game client and the launcher were the same thing, I don't know if there's a difference.

But the ticket was closed without an answer and marked as a duplicate. I mentioned a previous ticket for context, but I give up on the subject of the previous ticket and they're actually asking different questions. I give up on all my other questions: I just want to know if the game thingy is fixed or I need to reinstall it or something, and I don't understand why it was closed prematurely. Do I submit another ticket with just that question and no mention of the previous 2, or can a moderator please help?

(I've also had friends suggest something about running a repair on the launcher? But... I don't know how to do that. I don't see it on the launcher.)

There should be a "Game Options" drop down right above the news section on launcher. Repair is in there.

Oh, thanks Dagoth! I don't actually know if I need to run the repair, but it's good to know about it. Maybe I should start doing it regularly to make sure there's no problems?

I'm still hoping someone at ZOS can tell me if that's the right step?

It should never be needed except maybe just maybe when things go pear shaped during an update. Running repair to check should always be fine - just be aware it's not exactly instantaneous even on SSD.

if it does show as needing repair it normally means something corrupted data on your disk or SSD silently. That's a sign to run things like virus scans, memory diagnostics and other checks before it eats something else silently that mattered.

If it keeps needing repair you definitely need to investigate what's really going on

Launcher - the thing you get initially with the PLAY button.
Game Client - the thing you get after you hit PLAY

The launcher updates the game client when the game updates.
Too many toons not enough time
