What shields to Magsorcs use?

Was in Cyrodil yesterday and someone mentioned popping three shields on the magsorc before laying down a battering ram. I've been using hardened ward and healing ward. What others are there? I went through my skill tree and didn't notice anything that popped out as worth using.

Light armor skill line has another shield ability.

Use the green morph (bigger shield per piece of light armor)

Other than Hardened Ward none pop out as worth using... however, once you stack them... it's a whole other ballgame. I will on occasion, also add the Psijic shield on my backbar as well.

Mag Sorc using shields means they are leaving damage on the table. Not saying they're bad or they can't kill you. I'm just not as worried about being bursted down in 2-3s. It's sub optimal damage because you can't sustain shields without dipping into magicka sustain (atronach mundus, sustain food/drink, enchants, etc). Dark Conversion isn't good enough even w/ Torc. Shields also take up precious action bar slots that could be used for damage.

Everything you've said is all spot on, I would like to add that if they are using shields then that means they are stacking max mag which doesn't scale as well with damage as actual spell damage. Which while unconventional, stacking max spell damage and dropping shields on magsorc is a fun way to play imo
A fairly mediocre nightblade that occasionally kills people

I must be the weird MagSorc as I never use shields, even if I have them slotted, I always forget to cast them. Oddly, I tend to live pretty well through most things. Blocking, Dodging and flat out killing or damaging someone enough to chase them off seems to work pretty well for staying alive. Oh, and having good resists helps, I tend to die a lot more from the thousand cuts syndrome than being burst down usually. ;)

If you guys didn't try Empowered Ward, I suggest you to try. 10s vs 6s is a major difference. Lots of gankers just wait 6s and attack, for example. And it buffs regens (if you had any).

What kind of resists are you using? Glyph types?

No, just 5-1-1, Passives, Bound Aegis and CP's for resists and damage reduction. I mean they aren't huge resists, but seems to work fine for me. This is unbuffed and with food I have about 31k health as well:

I run Spell Damage glyphs on Jewelry and a mix of Health / TriStat on armour to answer your question. I also try to stay out of melee range whenever possible, and I swig Detection pots like water, because I have an adversity to being ganked by stealthers. When running solo, I may also swap out my jewelry glyphs for the extended potion ones, so I have 75% uptime on see invis, even though it costs me some damage. ;)
