Can i fire a hireling?

So I put a total of 5 skill points into hirelings over two toons.
I eager awaited my first delivery. All I received were 3 chunks of ore, 3 chunks of wood and 3 hides in the respective boxes.

Seriously
One node worth.

It is not even worth the point.

Can you refund only selected points or can you only reset all skill points?

only reset everything in your faction's capitol (as dc you get there around lvl15, probably similar for the other factions)

Yes you can fire them for 100g for every skill point you have invested so far.
  • kristiannyman88b16_ESO
The mats you recived is based on how many points you have in the craft:

For example if you have 1 point in Blacksmithing you get normal Iron Ore.
If you got 9 you'll get Voidstones. Feels like I've recived more epics/legendary upgrade items with higher points aswell but not 100% sure of that.

heh the hirelings are almost worth their skillpoints just by the funny messages they send you with the mats :p

really love the blacksmith materials one with her adventures

When I first time learned about crafting hirelings, I really liked the idea.
I thought it would provide the crafters with an option to focus on crafting, instead of spending time on harvesting.

But reality turned out to be much bleaker.
It’s tremendously disappointing to open a chest and find 3 measly ore pieces inside. What am I to do with them, clutter my bags?

Although there’s a chance for a trait gem or an upgrade component (perhaps even a legendary (gasp!) bit), I do think that basic result of “1 node worth of ore” is not enough.
I firmly believe that even the lowest possible result should allow crafters to make something, just out of the contents of the chest.
Even if it’s 10 ore refining or 4 ingots dagger.

So at the very least every chest should contain not less than 10 pieces of ore, to allow refining.
And if the devs consider that this would provide crafters with yet another chance at getting upgrade components, let the hireling send 5-10 refined ore instead.

The point is - sorry for repeating this for the 3 time - contents of the hireling’s chest should allow crafter to craft something right way, otherwise this point investment is pointless.

If it was the way you want, then these mats would be worth nothing. You can have 8 characters on one account. Make a math what it would cause...

Obviously you're pretty good at mathematics, would you kindly enlighten me?
Please do include the estimate number of, let’s call them enthusiasts, who would be ruining the economy by injecting market with 80 ore pieces a day.
Maybe it would be so profitable that all the bots finally leave the open dungeons.

The crap they give you scales with your skillpoints, AND they only send you things you can actually use.
For example, I only have points in the hireling for smithing so i only get iron ore and stones from them.
Woodworking, which I have FAR more points in, gives me not only the highest level wood i'm capable of using, but gives me the items required to level up items to epic level. Really at this point in the game this is the most practical source of these items, since epic level gear isn't exactly common.
Provisioning as well give you the items you're capable of using as well as, occasionally, the items you need to create purple quality food. Again this is the best source of the stuff.
Plus, yes, the stories are cute :)

However there is a weird issue that's only an issue if your skill level outstrips your character level: See, I can woodwork Yew, but i'm not level 46. I keep getting sent Yew.
This won't be an issue forever, but it's still an odd one to have.

ESO has a bad system for respeccing skills.

Wanting to change 1 point or change 1 morph... you could be spending a potential 30k gold.

My only complaint is that their 'daily' drop is counted from when you pick up the package that they send you. So the package gets sent later and later and later. It makes me wonder if I should bother with the twice a day upgrade. I mean, I would like the better packages, but what about days where I can't log in twice at twelve hour intervals? That is a waste.

I can see that the design team doesn't want people to abuse the system, but at the same time they can't make the drop at the same time and have some algorithm check to see how many hireling packages are in your mail? Maybe have it store up to three or four items, THEN have no more sent until you clear them back under this level?

At the same time you have 30k worth of skills to work with. That's a lot of room for error, unlike games with a much smaller 50pt system. People just obsess over something being *absolutely perfect*. IMO you should only NEED to respec once when you learn what exactly you want to do with your character, and again when you get the lion's share of the points in the game.
People perilously put the points on a pedestal if you ask me.

I will agree on Morphs, though. There should be a separate method for re-morphing skills, especially if they want to add further morphs down the road.

Yeah 300 points is a lot to work with but as you agree morphs need to be looked at to be more flexible to respec.

I'm a DK and Searing Strike which has 2 morphs which I could want to use. 1 morph for PvE and the other for PvP (possible for all skills).

Why should I need to respec every single skill to swap just 1 morph.

Potentially I could respec 3 times in a day just for that 1 morph. Obviously I won't because of the cost but I 'want' to though.

Yes the daily drop thing BS, its simulanously trival but its noticiable and annoying. At least store up one days worth and send it to you the next time you logon if you can't log on.

I am happy to report that after a stern discussion with my hirelings, I received 4 items in each box and three critical items.
