Over taxing People has lead to WTB WTS spam!

aklairenb14_ESO
I've made more money spamming than using the market system. Tax on item being sold at the market items should be 5% not 25% thats way to high even outside the game people do not pay that much. I've made more money spamming then putting items on the vendor.

I haven't used a guild store once so far. I do all my trading over "chat" or just trading.

I only use the guild stores to buy up all the bargains people put up and sell it for more in zone chat lol

WTS/WTT/WTB spam is not fully correlated with the high guild store fees, but has far more to do with lack of people to sell to in the guild store. You have a max of 499 potential buyers on the guild store, while you can easily reach that with one shout to the Zone. I have sold far more via zone spam than via guild stores. Simply because of the larger customer base.

This basically comes down to the poor economic design of this game. Their gold sinks are poorly designed and for the most part easily avoidable. All crafting skills are available and max able for all characters, gathering is universal and anyone can do it instead of it being skill based. Extremely limited market data so it is hard to find out what the real demand is for an item. And, lack of access to customers, all make for a very poor design.

I agree that auction houses are far too small, even with 499 other members, but I also agree that 25% is waaaaaaaaay too high. I cant even sell epics unless you are basically giving them away. Dont even bother trying to sell raw materials either!

I doubt a zone has more than 500 people in it...

There's no AH... ofcourse there's going to be spamming.

Already a few places seem to be known for spamming central such as for DC it's the level 40-45 zone.

At this point I think what we need to be hoping for is a trade channel. We'll still see some overflow in /zone, but it would help clean up the channel.

I turned off zone because I hate trade spam.
Sometimes I feel like I'm missing out and turn it back on. But, it never lasts.

Every zone is a trade zone now. It's the only way to buy and sell. Guild banks are a massive failure. Fees are two high and there is no way to reliably check a price from zone cluster to zone cluster so people are going to err on the high side of prices when they post.

    This system is bad.

    Pretty much.

It was not really the tax that made people go to a zone chat WTB/WTS , it was the useless guild system heh. Welcome to no global AH , hope you are happy , cause it seems this wont change soon , so the WTB/WTS wont go anywhere.

Well unless they at least make a GLOBAL trade channel , cause if they add a zone trade channel just watch people ignore it hehe.

    My take on this ...

IMO the point of the Guild AH was so that members could sell to each other on the cheap and the high AH prices were to make up for this luxury to sell to guild members only.

But that also goes with the assumption that there would be a global AH to sell items at a market price.

I have no idea why this game released with the system it does. I agree, it makes no sense. You have high AH prices, high taxes, and a limited customer base. It stands to reason that people are going to find other alternatives to create their commerce with the limited tools we have been given to use.

I am a little surprised that people haven't acutually created a website to bypass in game transaction fees.

I enjoy the WTB/WTS chat. Breaks up the tedium of trolling racists and whiners complaining that they can't max out their new characters in twenty minutes.

Do wish there was a trade channel so I could leave zone chat.
