Deconning Equipment nerfed?

Prior to this latest patch, I had no issues with deconning stuff other people made and getting a decent investment in return. Takes 10 steel to make a dagger? *per* decon, I might get 2-3 back ( in average).

Suddenly, today, me and my crafting buddy were getting less ore back than the number of daggers we traded each other. IN other words, He gave me 30 daggers to decon, and I was lucky to get 10 ore during the decon process.

WTF!?

30 daggers, roughly 300 ore (a little more since I think it's 11 per) and I got 10 ore back??? That is abysmal, and yes I have ranks into improved materials from decons.

Only the first tier was yielding good results. Out of 25 T1 gloves, I got 64 jute in return. SIXTY-FOUR! And I deconned 30 level 24 gloves and got 12 flax in return.

What is going on?? Before this patch, or before THIS day, I never had issue with the decon process, and indeed, world found whites return far better items than what I was getting from my friend! And we both experienced this so it wasn't just on my end.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes, I did notice the same thing, but a bit earlier. No idea if it's a nerf or bad luck or the more advanced materials you use - the less effective is deconstructing.

Depends on the level of your skill probably. I have deconned 10 epic 2h mauls VR10, got ~26 void stone ingots + 7 solvents, so mission accomplished. My smithing was around 26-ish
    Vertor et revertor.

I don't think anything in the game scales with skill level.

Nothing is scaled with skill level in this game. Only extraction skill play the role here.

Simple answer - RNG hates you.

What was found, and there has been a few forum posts on, is that the chance to get metals/wood/cloth/leather back when deconstructing an item compares your character level to the item level. Too much of a difference means you do not get metal back. It does not appear to take skill level into account.

An example is that at level 12 with a blacksmithing skill of 15 (high enough to make Dwarven gear), I would not get any metal back when deconstructing level 26 Orich daggers. However at character level 20 I do.

I think this is likely the real answer.

Sometimes I get loads of materials when I am deconstructing. Then sometimes I get squat. Just seems very random to me.

    Hirelings scale with skill.

How they scale with skill ? They dont.
They bring you ore of level compared to your adventurer level. Skill doesnt play any role at all.
All other stuff they bring are random.

During early acces hireling gave me purple and blue upgrade mats. Now I get only small amounts of raw materials, usually for vet lvls. My char's lvl 26.

Hirelings do scale with skill. I am level 16 and my hireling is sending me dwarven and ebony ore.

Thanks, that does make sense, to what you are saying, but doesn't make sense overall. Prior to the recent patch I was getting good stuff from decons, and then after this patch, I wasn't *le sigh*

It should be based off skill. I specifically send things to my alt so that I can be worry free with my main.

Oh well, fail on ESO's part.

Hirelings deliver you highest possible raw mats depending on skill. E.g. you can craft med armor using Iron Hide, so hireling will deliver you raw Iron Hide.
Another example: I currently can craft only Iron BS items since I didn't spend skill points on it, and my BS level is about 30. I do have a blacksmith hireling (dunno why, lol) and he delivers only Iron ore. I'm decon-ning Calcinium Items and still getting ingots, trait gems, style stones, tempers, etc.

Some random info: I refined 1000 raw kreshweed and got 861 kresh fiber (Unraveling III). Not a big pool, but it seems that you get nearly 8,5 refined mats per 10 raw.
In beta you received skill xp for refining raw mats =\

I have been seeing this lately as well. I simply made a mental note but didn't think more of it until now. You deconstruct a green item your character level, and you expect to get something back. Here lately, it seems like I get no trait resource, maybe one ore, and if I am really lucky one of the racial resource used to make the item.
