Alternative to Dark Convergence from DAoC - MESMERIZE

It was obvious on paper that the Dark Convergence (DC) Proc was overpowered yet ZOS rolled it out anyway. Why overpowered?

1. Combines the 2 most powerful general effects in the game - AoE and CC, so there's a built in synergy from a single player (and VD synergy too).
2. The CC not only includes the most powerful CC, Stun, but also includes a Snare and Pulls to the center of the AoE.
3. And not only are there 3 CCs, but the Pull actually repeats every 2 seconds.
4. And if 3 CCs with 1 repeated isn't enough, there is no CC immunity!
5. All of the above would even make an overpowered Ultimate, but what is the cost? 0, it is a Proc with a 100% chance of firing, AND along with the triggering ground targeting effect(s)!
6. All of the above also make it more powerful than any other 5 piece Proc that I am aware of, so where is the Proc balance?

In addition, as PvP players know, abilities/Procs that are actually balanced on paper (DC is not) are not actually balanced in practice due to ESO lag in Cyrodiil. So what does lag effect in the worst way? Besides casted abilities and siege, lag greatly effects CC and Break Free for the targets in a very bad way.

Supposedly Dark Convergence was introduced as a counter to large/ball groups that are close together, but by introducing such an overpowered Proc, it has become the Proc of choice. ZOS, have you seen the ridiculous DC Proc spam in Cyrodiil? What's next, Procs with invulnerability or instant/touch of death?

So what might work as an alternative to DC? I suggest an ability/Proc similar to the Mesmerize in DAoC. Yes, Mesmerize is an AoE CC, but its balancing characteristic is that it BREAKS WHEN A TARGET TAKES DAMAGE. It also provides CC IMMUNITY. Its purpose is to break up a large group into smaller groups by 'mesmerizing' chunks of the larger group. It achieves this by having the largest duration of CC in the game (usually at least 10 seconds and based on TTK). Also, any counter to it shouldn't be readily available (if at all) or very costly.

Anyone else like the idea of Mesmerize or a variation of it to replace DC?

So an unbreakable Time Stop that can be used by organized groups to lock down the 40+ PuGs they farm?

What's DAoC??? Whenever I hear Mesmerize I think of ESO's Mesmerize and that ability countering ball groups is like winning the lottery. It's super rare, hard to pull off, and has to be combined with a team ulting.

It's sounds OP, although it's not. An organized group could single target enemies, but its not an infinite length of time, just a long length. And after it's broken by damage (or expired) you gain CC immunity. Dark convergence just keeps pulling and pulling.

Mesmerizing took more skill because it had more boundaries, which is what the OP was saying.

As Amerises said, if a larger group used it against a smaller group, it would give most/all of the smaller group CC immunity for at least as long as the Mesmerize lasts. Ball groups rely on spammed AoE (and the lag that it induces) so a Ball group would immediately break the Mesmerize with damage, so no value.

The small group on the other hand, might manage to Mesmerize a significant number of the larger/Ball group, giving them a chance to get some kills in or escaping from and/or spreading out the larger group.
