Is it better to slowing down my combat?

I play the game for so long, but still sometimes I do not know what's going on in pvp combat.

I know eso has a 1sec internal global cooldown between skills which you cannot bypass, you can use a Light attack because it's an independent cooldown, but not another skill if the previous one didn't finish the global cooldown yet.

In the rush of the combat I feel like I am pressing skills maybe too fast and probably it's the reason why I am dying more often than usual, because skills are not casted sometimes even if I don't realize it.

So is it better if I start slow down my combat and skill pressing maybe using a combat metronome to help me cast the skills till I got the swing of it?

I know could be a l2p issue, but lot of times people engage me, i count 3-4 seconds in my head, i watch the death recap and combat metrics too and it appears i got hit by 7-8 surprise attacks or dizzy swings. How is that possible? If you cannot ever bypass the global cooldown. Even if you animate cancel executioners, you cannot make them faster than 1 second, so why some people are able to throw 6 or 7 of those in the matter of few seconds?

I play on pc eu, notorious for desync and lag, could be the reason or am i missing something?

When it comes to figuring out the timing of your battles, Combat Metrics should have a option to have a combat log show in your chat with timestamps. That will let you know the actual time of the fight and how often you are getting hit.

Pc EU performance is trash, there's no sugar coating of this.
Don't rely on what input you give the game but rather the feedback the game gives you, and I don't mean animations or your HP bar but damage/healing numbers be it via Addons or in-game damage numbers.

This will cause your gameplay to "slow down" as you'll often run into situations where skills just didn't go off and you have to waste another gcd on using them.

With lag being as bad as it is, your best bet is playing as conservative as possible, because you don't know if lag will stop you from using skills, will cause you to eat a ult that you shouldn't have been hit by etc.

The advice Bohn gave is very solid.

Yes, the lag is why these weird things are happening. I had on the PN NA had 6 attacks hit me over the course of 3 seconds, but their damage never registered for 4 seconds, but then all of them hit at the same time causing me to explode. There are also some powerful burst combos via delayed/additive damage that's also causing some funky things to happen. Like a Stam Sorc using Overload, Crystal Weapon, and Elemental weapon all in one light attack will blast all but the most durable builds to pieces in that single shot.
Why building 30k HP with around 20k resistances is what some are calling the minimum due to the high damage this patch. Next patch will see our passive damage mitigation in PvP go up so expect things to slow down as time to kill goes up. People will still be throwing tons of damage at you which can desync thanks to the server though.

Ideally, you just need to feel the GCD beat and click la+skill once. If it is something important and perfect timing is an issue, you can double-tripple click around the GCD time (or, like, after stun break).

As everyone above mentioned, only way to get full log of same skill is lag. I remember getting 4 stacks of jabs without person on the screen one day, game only showed him after death.

I noticed I was playing "to fast" in PVP, too. I started using the Combat Metronome Addon. I turn off the visuals, but turn on the sound effect for the Global Cooldown. Every time I use a skill, I get a sound 1 second later. Usually I don't listen to it, but sometimes I use it to find my rhythm again.

There will be many times where skills just won't work because the server can't handle Cyrodiil. Depending on your emotional state you are free to be calm and patient or angrily hammer on your keyboard as you prefer.

Yeah, and after many years it's very hard to try to slow down, especially when you are solo 1vX against multiple enemies you tend to spam and click heals and skills super fast making them not fire most of the times.

I think the global cooldown is 1000ms, but there is a pre-window of 400ms when you can queue the next skills which will fire as soon the global cooldown of the previous skill is ready, but still it's better to slowing down.

I noticed this especially with executioner, before I was used to click it nonstop as soon my target was on execute range, lately I tried to slow it down and weave it better with LA and I am securing and getting way more kills now, even some people whispered me how I landed all that executioners in such a short window.

I will try use the combat metronome sound, I didn't think about that, thanks.

*angrily hammers on the keep door until it lets me in*
Angrily hammered on it one time too many, it spat me back out into the enemy zerg, and I died.
