Current how to build a bomber?

Ok I recently have gotten the PvP bug and my PvP guild needs a few bombers. I dusted the mothballs off of my mag sorc and started researching. I found a few videos but they all seemed outdated and some used crystal blast which was removed if I recall. They were showing the old CP point system and gear sets a year old. While helpful it did get me wanting to see what's being used currently.

It'll be a week or two as my sorc needs to level up his pvp skill points and few other skills. Here is what I came up with and forgive the botched jargon I wrote it all down when researching so it's shorthand lol.

Back Bar
ultimate eye of lighting or the sygic ultimate.
boundless storm
hardened ward
dark conversion
critical surge
streak

front bar
shooting star or suppression field ultimate
mages wrath
inner light
crystal blast(need to replace this with something)
inevitable detonation
haunting curse

Gear set
balorghs visage monster set(need to get the helm)
off hand - new moon swords for dual wield
lightning staff of potentates or black rose lightning staff. I don't have either, I'm using maelstrom lightning staff until decided what to replace it with
new moon feet, hands, waist and sash
vicious death chest, legs, amulet and rings

As stated it will be a week or two before I get my skills leveled up so might as well get other things lined up until them.

Any good links or advise (other than bombers suck lol) will be appreciated. Insightfuls given to all thanks!

I think many of them run Acuity these days, obviously with Vicious Death and Balorgh.

Thank you. I took a look at that set, Mechanical Acuity. Need to deal direct damage then a 100% crit strike chance? So as in direct damage they just need to smack someone directly instead of using a spell first?

Don't really play bombers but I beleive the usual build is: Vicious Death, Mech Acuity and Balorgh. I believe the usual rotation is:

1.) Prime up proxy
2.) Wait until it's almost going to go off then lotus fan in to proc Acuity.
3.) Cast soul tether (with 500 ulti)
4.) Then spam sap essence until dead.

Although I'm no expert on that particular playstyle

I don't use lotus fan. Just get in there and Soul Tether + Proxy timed, then Sap Essence.

Plenty of bomber videos on YouTube where you can see bar setups and so on.

No, direct damage is basically anything that isn't a DoT, so it's really easy to proc.

Thanks everyone, ended up going with Vicious Death, Mechanical Acuity. I have to get the Balorgh helm. I've got the new Gaze of Sithis helm for now.

Any ideas on what staff to use? There seems to be several alternatives on the videos. Anyone using anything they really like over others staves they have tried?

Dual wield axes for extra crit damage. Otherwise probably lightning

Only use staff (lightning) if you want to bomb with eye of storm. I prefer soul tether, so I use dw weapons. I already had swords, so I am using swords. I don't know if axes were stronger, but if a bomb didn't work out I don't feel it was because I was missing 1 or 2% damage, but because my timing was bad (probably due to lag), the group was just way to tanky or the group had good reaction and was blocking, healing etc. Balorgh is very important and noticeable, though. I see the difference between a 175 ulti drop and a 500 ulti drop clearly. You should get Balorgh ASAP. Of course, if there's enough squishies in a group you can bomb them anyway.

Thanks this is very helpful. Lightning staff it is! March of Sacrifices on Vet for Balorgh is my next step. Definitely not a PUG!
