Hi i'm quite new to the game and i see a few guild I'm in doing raffles. I'm certainly no expert in these things, i just wondered what Zos stance is on ingame gambling is, such as guilds having raffles where you pay gold with the a chance to win more gold or crowns or instore items ?

Depens on the guild but you always buy raffles tickets with in game gold.
Prices as I said depens on the guild, some only have gold prices, others give out expensive crafting material or motifs and some also gift smaller crown prices.
The loot box gambling is far worse then a few raffles tickets what you buy with gold and support your guild with ^^

The specific line is that you can't pay, or win, anything that doesn't involve in game currency, items, or services.

So, you can raffle off in game items (including ones gifted from the crown store), gold, in-game services (like dungeon carries.) But, you can't raffle off items that exist outside of the game. You couldn't raffle off an Amazon Gift Card, for example.

Generally speaking, raffles like this are designed to help keep a guild solvent. Renting a guild trader can be quite expensive and those transactions go a long way towards keeping your guild's ability to sell to non-guild players.

What's ZOS stance regarding in-game gambling? It's called crown crates.

I think as long as it's only gold and in-game items changing hands they're fine with it.

If someone could prove that a guild lottery was a scam (e.g. it was always the leader or one of the officers who won) they might do something to stop it, but I think that would be hard to prove.

Raffles are never really gambling so much as they are a fundraiser. You know (or should know) that the payout is always less than the intake. For some reason, people like the small chance that they might get their donation back, or something of value. Personally, I tell my trade guilds not to enter me in the raffle, just keep the gold. I have nothing against gambling, it’s just that raffles seem a bit silly to me. I feel bad donating gold and then maybe getting it back.

You must be new because Raffles have been here since I can remember. I might add with no issue, as well.

Raffles are certainly a good way to help the guild and guildies accomplish much needed goals. These may include items needed for the guildhall and things to help with traders that benefit every member. They also are a nice little community event, same as the auctions.

Simple put, running top guilds are a lot of work that very few players can imagine. Especially, those where you have 500 peeps and over 68% have become like an online family.

Raffles are a nice help and ZOS has never had an issue with them....

gambling, would be crown crates imo, not raffles.
